many many years! since I was a kid
we use cheap ones from tesco or argos, just go for a low wattage version, which generally means the cheapest but best to make sure. cost about £10 in tesco much more in camping shops etc

WHY

Hi Gunner, could I ask, "Why a slow boil kettel" When I want a hot drink, the sooner the better for me, which is why I use gas on the stove.

Norman

To answewr your Q. we travel a lot on the Continent and with some sites on very low amps we found that a rapid boil kettle tripped etc!
Thanks for the advice tho!

In layman terms..
A rapid boil "house" kettle can use as much as 3kw (3000w) that like 16amps..
So if your on a 6amp site your going to trip a few switches...

Kettles in camping shops are just overpriced.. All you need do is look on the side of the box, under the kettle or its base and you will see the wattage rating.. As close to 1kw (1000w) is ideal..

As others have said check out supermarkets, argos, ebay etc..

Gotta go.. Kettle just boiled... TEA TIME... :)

Gas

but whats wrong with using the gas. saves buying an electric kettle .

I usually spend 3-4 months in Spain/Portugal in the winter and have 2 bottle of Calor propane gas which last me. They cost in the region of £22 to exchange
Why use gas if on EHU !! we do use it if camping away from site obviously
Anyone know if Butane is cheaper that Propane????

When in Spain buy a second hand bottle, usually someone on a campsite is selling one.
Local Chinese bazzar shops sell the regulator for €9, piping €2-3 and if you have an outdoor BBQ point connect in via that.. Spanish gas re-fill is about €15-16

The deep joy of the forum. Ask a simple question........
.....................and wonder why you bothered.

Next time rephrase it.

I want a low wattage electric kettle. Read my lips LOW WATTAGE.

I don't want an (*(*(*&^^% gas kettle.

I don't want a &&&^^%%$£ high wattage kettle.

I want a simple friggin low wattage friggin kettle that won't trip the friggin mains when I'm on a friggin site with a friggin useless power rating. Get it. LOW. Wattage.
