How do you pass your time each day? Don't you get bored? What do you do when there are days and days of rain?

I've just got back from a 3 week trip--and it rained non stop for the first 2 weeks. Me, 2 dogs and 2 cats in a 6.5m motorhome--and it was BRILLIANT. Dogs'll still walk in the rain (lots of old towels for return!) The cats were happy to look out of the windows, sleep & eat.
I read, watched DVDs, knitted (just squares for a charity in S.A) did sudokus. I can honestly say I was not bored. Bit stir crazy and needing exercise because of all that rain (I'd have been the same in the 11 room house I live in!) so headed out with the dogs--we had a whole beach and the Atlantic to ourselves on a few days.

Best advice I had here before buying was to sit in a van, imagine it is raining non stop for 24 hours, is there enough room to cook, watch TV, stretch out etc... Worked well as even with 4 animals, we all had enough space.
Been home 3 hours (because of house viewers, tax forms to file etc..) and can't wait to get going again.

More or less what we did with bricks and mortar in the wet wet bit of the Peninnes known as Todmorden.

The only hope is that we can find somewhere that it does not rain most days of the week like it often did up there.

So far we have failed miserably as we went to Peterborogh pffffft and now we are in Norfolk the driest county so someone on here said. They told lies as it has rained every day for the last eight days.

The nice bit is in the tin box both us and the dog know instantly that it has stopped sufficient to go walkies and walkies are somewhere different most days.

Loving it

full timing

Hi yeh agree same as you would in a house in the rain - best bit is chores dont take as long and you can enjoy hobbies - i knit - crotchet - glass paint - read - play on computer finding recipes and experimenting trying some of them in a RV - chatting to friends in other countries - planning trips - catch up on tele - all sorts - not enough hours in the day some times - amazing how you can fill the day x

We've been fulltiming for 3 years and have not had a bored minute yet

Personally we move around see new places, meet lots of great people and socialise accordingly from time to time. The rest of the time I read, watch TV/ films, cross-stitch and make jewellery, with the odd card making or srapbooking session thrown in as well!

Dave reads a lot watches some TV/Films and does all the outside chores and will also go for walks and bike rides.

I wonder how we had time for full time work

I guess some people would be bored, it just depends on your interests and what type of hobbies you enjoy.

Afraid I dont understand any of it, surely having both a home and a motor home has got to be the perfect combination, why restrict yourself to either one. How can just having a motorhome to live in be better. Living in a steel box full time without an alternative residence must send you stir-crazy :cry:Even JJ has alternatives.

We did three years full time, and for that very reason we only spent one winter in the UK .. Stuck in a van on a muddy site with two kids and a dog can be depressing to say the least.. best to head for southern Spain or Morocco for winter ..

I didn't say and do not think it is necessarily better, just an alternative! We still have a property (although we have rented it out) and can go back to that lifestyle whenever we like but for us the novelty has not worn off yet. Being too young to officially retire this allows us to live how we like with not too many financial restrictions and means we do not have to rejoin the rat race :winky: It suits us, we haven't regretted it for a moment but I am sure it's not for everyone

I'm an oldbie MH number 9
when we set off on our full timing adventure, I am planning on relieving boredom by having Great sex.

If I can't do that then the next option is to work from my motorhome. I intend on taking regular part time contracts around the country for say 6-9 months. Then working around the country and living in my motorhome. I have just been looking at a fantastic job opportunity in the Orkney islands. I am dead keen but we have to let the boys finish their schooling first.
if circumstances were different we would be off like a shot, travelling the islands, hopping from one to another for 9 months sounds great.
Then hopefully off to a nice ski or surfing resort for a few months before looking for another job sounds great.

Who knows where our lives will take us, all I know is that our time will come, but we will most certainly be keeping a house of brick as that is our preferred choice. :thumb:
