Off for about 7 weeks to France Spain and Portugal, usually take out medical insurance, but when trying this time was well hacked off, seems once you pass 65 the premiums are jacked up,that together with mild High Hypertension hiked the price to about £350 for one trip! Am thinking just going with e111,any thoughts?

I use the E11 for Europe as it gives you the same treatment as a local would get.
I do have the topup with ADAC but have never used it. Cant see much point personally in paying through the nose for medical insurance in Europe as most of them send you to a local hospital.

On returning from Morocco Pat caught pneumonia in Spain and was admitted to hospital for 10 days. She got exactly the same treatment as a Spaniard on the E11 card. Just make sure you have the card handy. We always keep them inside our passports.
