hi funsters, ha ha , just found out i cannot exchange calor gas bottles in france. that came as a surprise.
as we are going for four weeks and trying out the aires we will be using more gas than with the caravan were we always booked on campsites with electric hookups.
the weather forecast for france is not looking good for may, so my wife will require the heating on full blast, i.e.. more gas.
next plan of action is to purchase a camping gaz bottle with an adapter and use it as a backup.

this afternoon i will be having the air assisted suspension fitted, as recommend by a number of motorhomers.
all i need now is a whip round the grandkids for some ice cream money.

We bought a "Cube" when we were there and it came with free regulator, we did have to buy a new pigtail though.

They are available at many high street shops, supermarkets and gas stations.

We think re-fills are about 16 euros but memory is dusty

All we have to do is remember to take it back to France with us each time we go

Hence Gaslow or a fixed tank We have fixed tank and used 21ltrs of gas in 2 mths
doing 1 mth at Marjal and 1 mth touring through France back to Calais.

like wise we have an LPG fixed tank

In our RV we have a fixed LPG tank and just get a fill up at garages.. we have a european adapter for the American fittings, plus one for the UK.. always managed to get LPG through out FRance.. Spain is not as easy.

Go to an Inter Marche or U supermarket, you can buy a bottle cheap & unlike Calor, they will even buy the bottle back if you keep the receipt.
Plenty of places to get refilled as well.

It does mean you will not be able to take any bottles with you if you buy new bottles over there... but as said they are available ..

I will second the Gaslow or similar. The convenience factor of filling up with LPG at a garage is great. I have just filled up an empty gaslow to full for £17. Would have cost me £27+ to get a swap out of my FloGas bottle at the same garage. I reckon it will take me 20 or so weeks to get the money back and at the same time the convenience factor is brilliant.

Getting gas in France is not a problem, just go to a supermarket, they have quite a few different companies bottles, just take out a contract with the suoermarket and when you are leaving France return bottle to any store in the supermarket chain for a refund of your deposit. Remember to keep your contract to claim the deposit :thumb:

Yes I have one & it works fine.I use it for refilling gas for space heater/BBQ at home. Just have to follow the refill amount quoted as no cut off when full.
Also most fuel stations won't let you use it if they know about it.

have one here. used them in maroc but thought they were also used in france.

To go back to your origional question!!!!
We go thro France to Spain and back every winter (Jan - Mar) and use Aires there and back no problem so IF you do your resarch there are plenty of Aires with electric hook up, some you pay for, some are free.
I take 2 x Propane bottles plus a little Calor gas bottle as a reserve (so far haven't had to use it !)
Beware useing gas for heating as you will soon use up 1 bottle.
IF it gets cold, a wooly hat and gloves don't look too sexy in bed but certainly they will keep you warm. You lose 10% off body heat thro your head¬¬!! good luck and enjoy France We do:thumb:
My advise is take 2 bottlesif you a can also asmall fan heater if on EHU
