Tyre pressure guage (1 Viewer)

Following on from Jim's announcment it reminded my about the completely usless peice of 2:Mad: Halfords £20 guage I bought a while ago.

So, any recomendations on where and what, bearing in mind it needs to read in excess of 65PSI?

Maybe i should source a good one and sell it.

The forecourt ones take such a hammering they cannot be relied upon and anyway by the time we get to the service station the temp in the tyre has risen so has the pressure.

I use a digital one from BMW from when I had a BMW Bike, always keep it wrapped in a rag to insulate it from shocks and its still good even though it must be 15 years old. I think most named digitals will be OK Michelin etc.

I use an old Dunlop pocket gauge, the kind that the uses the air pressure to push a rod out.. nothing to go wrong, no batteries or chips.. another great example of KISS

Yes indeed, tested against one or two others I have. No matter what/where the valve is you get a reading with this. And it looks good. It came loose at the valve so I took it to bits, beautiful turned brass parts.

I don't know if I bought from this vendor but it's the same one and same price from memory.

Cheers, but I've just ordered one of the Draper one's Brian recommended. I kinda like the idea of analogue, less to go wrong, and £9.86 delivered:thumb:

There is a commercial one available, same as the "pop out " one, about fifteen quid if i remember, and about a foot long.Use din commecial workshops.

i use one from tool station

Draper do a cheap one as do tool station.. it is the part I fit on my air hose .. you can use them to read the tyre pressure when not connected to the compressor hose.. it has a dial that goes from 0 right up to 130 psi and gives bar reading as well.. I checked my trailer with it the other day before I connected up the compressor... they were down a couple of lbs over the last 2 months (they have to be 60 psi).. but works better than some of the gauges you buy.

i dont need a tyre pressure guage to check my tyre pressure's i have these little flashing valve cap's that tell me if my tyres need air

I got mine from Halfords. It measures in Bar or PSI and is perfectly suitable.

Very consistent readings.

used to prove the gauge on my garage compressor is 5psi low and the gauge on my Ring RAC type mini compressor is 7psi low.

I've got the Draper one and find it excellent. Bought it about 3 years ago on Amazon and I see you can still buy them there (though no idea if it's the same seller mine came from). I paid about the price it is on ebay.

I've had digital ones in the past - probably too cheap - but they never lasted 5-minutes.

Like others have mentioned, the analogue gauge is kind or reassuring. And as Brian said, very well made.
