I'm sure that a many people out there face the more than 4 bikes challenge...

What are the options to resolve this ?

Options not available:

1) Selling a child, tried and got no takers
2) Buying a bigger MH, just got the one we have, parts of my body will be removed if I even think about it
3) Putting the 15yr old in a bike child seat,

I managed 5 bikes at the week-end. My two electric folders and the 3 kids bikes. Not a lot of room left in the garage though, but we managed........Griff...:thumb:

hi .something like load carrier backpack base on the towbar might work. or do you just get a trailer and make use of it for carrying other items as well. i would say with five of youextra space etc would come in useful. extra on the back sticking out plays hell with axle loads . trailer is much more friendly.

We've carried 5 in a few different ways. We have had a small trailer that had 4 bikes on top and one small kids bike inside (the trailer)

On another van we had a 2 bike rack fitted high, and a towball mounted 3 bike carrier below it.

We have also used a box-trailer that carried all the bikes, and a track pump, tools and spares etc. it also had a washing machine in it. ::bigsmile:

A combination of garage and rack should cope with five, also if you have a tow bar you can buy 5 bike racks, but they will set you back £200+ here's an example. :thumb: http://www.google.co.uk/products/ca...=X&ei=HEqDT5GQBqWX0QXggMn0Bg&ved=0CKYBEPMCMAE

On another van we had a 2 bike rack fitted high, and a towball mounted 3 bike carrier below

That might work as our existing Thule rack is very high, 140cm at the rack height so may me possible to fit 1 or 2 below on a tow bar mounted rack: Thule/Altera

We managed five bikes by putting four on the rack, and the fifth in the shower! :roflmto:

It was the smallest bike of the lot, but we still had to take the front wheel off so it could get in.

One point which you need to consider (and which Alan alluded to) is weight. Is your payload sufficient for five bikes as well as five people and all the other stuff you need to carry?

I took 5 bikes to Amsterdam when the kids were younger. 3 on the rear bike rack and two on the roof, tied down with chunks of hard foam under the sticky out bits. Hauled them up there with a piece of rope with a hook on it.
