Remoska for rice? (1 Viewer)

Am thinking of getting a Remoska and wondered if they are any good for cooking rice? Anyone with one tried that, please?

Once you buy one remoska, you will find yourself buying a second one.

One for the motorhome and one for indoors.

Cooks a roast chicken to perfection.

I have never cooked rice in it though as I usually just buy microwaveable rice.

Also cooks stews etc, in fact almost anything you want.

I could not manage without mine now

Wife has made a rice pudding in it. Results fine. A very versatile piece of kit.

All so consider the chobb

Also consider the Cobb.. works a treat and when there is no EHU such as shows it comes in to it's own.

I can bake bread in it, cook a large chicken, use the wok unit, the frying pan unit and also the griddle ... it also smokes items... works off compressed coconut shell and is cold to touch so you can move it about.. cannot use it in doors.. but we are in our 3rd season with it and it does what it says on the tin so to speak.

The Standard 470w Remoska is the one to go for for two people. the Grand for a family perhaps. Lakeland is the only shop that sells new ones. Ebay / local ads etc for secondhand ones, though they are sometimes unused as people receive them as wedding gifts but decline to be enlightened! Get a rack that fits inside too. Jane

Thanks everyone for your replies. I was kind of hoping that the Remoska would be known to produce perfect fluffy rice every time. The only foolproof way I've found so far is to use a microwave rice steamer but I don't really want to go for a microwave in the van.

At 470w, the Remoska looks a very handy bit of kit .........

Maz, if I need to cook rice in the near future I will let you know! Having said that I tend to, if just doing rice, either use my Dream Pot (another story) when in the van or my trusty Tupperware rice cooker. Both need no power after an initial boil in a pan. Jane

Hi Maz

I have never tried cooking rice in the Remoska but have tried most other things and its great. I have heated up rice from the take away in it and as long as you dont use plastic containers its ok.

Its far better than a halogen which on full blast tends to cremate the food!

Dream Pot? No, no. Not another impossible-to-do-without device! I'll need to tow a catering trailer at this rate.

hi. pressure cooker bring to pressure for two minutes then switch off .
one cup of rice two cups of water per person.
then carry on with cooking what ever else. ideally wrap the pressure cooker in a towel . come back after 10-15 mins all cooked .
pressure cooker for veg,some meats ,even do some cake type dishes.
best bit of kit for any kitchen a pressiure cooker .that and a wok.
forget all the other stuff not needed .
mind a good oven makes some things even better . but use an old fashioned enamel self basting dish and lid in there saves cleaning .
