Being fairly new to the forum this may have been asked before, couldn't find much on search.I am thinking of have my vehicle "chipped"and have read lots of the commercial literature extolling the virtues, reduced fuel consumption, more bhp and extra tourque. But would be grateful for any feedback from fellow MH owners who have had the this done,ie,does it work are there any drawbacks or potential problems?the most common method seems to be "remapping"but because of the age of my MH (1997 mercedes sprinter)It seems the only option iin my case is to replace the "chip"this apparently has the same effect and costs about the same as a remap.Any thoughts gratefully appreciated.

since 2007, 25 years tuggin before that.
Had our 4 tonne Ducato based van remapped last year, this gave it the power to pull a higher 5th gear, and over a similar 1000 mile trip shows a 25% fuel saving.(21mpg to 26.5mpg)

Not bad, the remap might have given about 10% but the 5thgear made the big difference reducing RPM by about 800@60MPH which also reduced noise levels, but then the engine wouldn't have pulled the higher gear without the remap.

I did a lot of research into Ducato gearing & have swapped cogs in other vans as well to good effect.

Do you mean you changed your ratio to a higher 5th gear?
