Hi all, the last time i was hiding from Bev under the Motorhome i noticed that the oil sump was rusting badly .
As we have a service coming up i would like to change this at the same time.
I have searched online but cant seem to find one for a 2006 2.8 JTD.

Any pointers Please

Thanks.....Ralph

If its not totally rotten, why not just clean it up and give it a coat of hi temperature paint?

Agreed...at just 6 years old it will only be surface rust.
a good wire brush and a coat of rust inhibitor and then good quality hi temp paint.

it wont be rusty inside though :roflmto:

First i would put wire brush in drill and clean original, paint with hammerite or
similar, could easily continue then for many more years.

also while your under ther check your front cross member/radiator support as these are
prone to rusting as well.

hope this helps

Thanks everyone for the replies....

I think i will try cleaning it up first and see just how far the rust has got inn.
I dont like gambling on things like this, its like that cam belt thing...the consequences will be inconvenient and expensive

Thanks again.....Ralph

If you want to hide from Bev at the weekend, you can get under mine and have a look to see what a clean one looks like :ROFLMAO:

Thats what we love about this forum! , all the Banta, you know that your alive,:ROFLMAO: but most of all the good advice:thumb: going back to your question, most people when taking a New motor home these days dont ask for a underseal coating, ``why i dont Know´´ the metal used in the past good days was much superior than to day's, have a good clean up and use rust cure also acts as a undercost, and underseal ya self, you can buy wax oil seal from most good auto supplyers or used engine oil for use with a compressor, the sump pan just clean up and rust cure paint it as said, that be my advice, :thumb:cheers Alf.

If it was me I would not start cleaning it up they are know to pin hole and leak and any attempt at de rusting it could make it far worse they are usually paper thin if leaking and an easy job to change for a new one PM sent
