Well, our 3 month stay at Parc Verger turned into 4 months!

We have seen the good weather here and the bad (temps down to -20) and we still loved it.
The site is great, the pitches are hard standing with water, grey and black dumps on pitch.
The shower and toilets are very good.
For those of you with the big rigs I have never seen a better site for you.
We found Bob and Di (the owners) very welcoming and helpful.
The area is heaven for us as we are not pubbies and would not be seen dead in a night club.
We like the occasional meal out and Dino’s in the village is good with reasonable prices (their pizza’s are great).

Some of the highlights of our trip have been the fantastic area, Brantome, Perigrieux, St Yrieix La Perche, Segur Le Chateau, Jumilhac Le Grand oh and seeing a Firecrest (not twitchers but have never seen one of these before) and not least watching the skeins of Cranes migrating day after day in their thousands.
We like the area so much that we have bought a static having been offered a pitch at Parc Verger for it.
Living as we do in a static in the UK you are treated almost as second class citizens. Here it is different, we feel as if we are welcome.
As folks who like walking, the area is fantastic with many walks possible from the site. The people are very friendly and we feel at home.
Our French is not very good but we have not found this a problem, we do make an effort to do our best though and sometimes I will translate what I want to say in Google and then learn it for what we need to do i.e. opening bank accounts.

Above all else it is unbelievably tranquil here and sooo relaxing.
So all in all we have had a smashing time and have no regrets about wintering here.

A thank you to those who helped to make our trip memorable:-

Bob n Di and Freddie (of course)
Mike and Carol
Brian and June (papasmurf)
Jeff and Sue
Terry and Debbie
Mike and Jen

Well Bob, I have checked first how Google was coping with these few words and the translation is not too bad ... the last bit is more like :"......without forgetting the travels!" Otherwise google does quite good ! But just in case I will give its translation here:

"Welcome to this beautiful land of France. May she bring you joy, happiness ....... and traveling around!"

fondly

Hi Ken n Steph glad you are enjoying it. :thumb:Just out of curiosity (tell me to mind my own) how does it compare with a static here in uk ? ie pitch rent etc,Just got back from Whitley bay and our friend has a static on the Haven hols pitch there and the pitch / rent is above 4k (£80plus a week):Eeek: Keep telling her to get rid as she only uses it a few weekends a yr ::bigsmile:Living in it all yr round then it may work out OK but to only occasional use :Eeek::Eeek:

We spent a week at Parc Verger in Jan 2008, and concur with all that's been said..

Excellent site, top hosts and great pitches for RVs 10/10 .. :thumb:

We did a fair amount of cycling on the disused rail line in both directions, but if you have a large motorhome / RV , to see further afield and for shopping, a toad or scooter would be very worth while .. I would say essential ..

hope to return one day ...
