Hello everyone, Another bizarre question from me, I'm afraid.

I've had photos and text hijacked from my website & put on to someone elses.
I've been advised that I should have watermarked my photos. I've tried doing this online but it looks a bit basic on the photos--and I can't see how it stops people taking them.

Any ideas on something to use (has to be ultra simple for me) to watermark that looks good and also what to actually put on the watermark?

Many thanks for any advice.

No idea how to do that but I'll search google. Thanks for the suggestion.

Hoping my friend in the know will be able to kill off their hijacked site.

Get a copy of Elements, open all your pics and record a macro to watermark all your pics. Easy to do any takes no time at all, after all it's just text and or logo on a new layer and merge the layers (flatten them).

Hi it can be done quite easily on photobucket or tinypic if you upload pics to those sites. I have had the same with some of my pics then being sold on Ebay!!!

It's also easy to do in Photoshop or similar. Here's one I made earlier.....

Watermarks can be easily removed

Hi everyone

Sorry to say watermarks can be easily removed.
Here is an example of the previous photo.. it took 5mins on Photoshop!
There is a plug in for Adobe Photoshop ( PhotoHTML) that will prevent images from being used by ordinary methods. However, really savvy pc users can still get around this.
I don't know the answer really, but I guess if you have pictures you don't want stolen don't put them on internet.

I agree I'm afraid.

As can be seen above, watermarks can be removed, disabling right click and copy can be got around with script blockers or even a simple screen grab program.

That said, use a watermark but make it small, unobtrusive and repeated all over the picture. Takes more work to photoshop it out and does identify it as yours but does not detract from the actual image.

if i upload a photo that i don't want copied i use a low resilution picture so if it is copied and enlarged it will be pixelated so no need to watermark

i never upload my best images i keep them for prints and sell them myself ::bigsmile:
