My fridge is not working on electric hook up here in Marjal

Can I switch my fridge to battery power when on electric hook up?

Or will I ruin my leisure batteries?

Cheers

Lesley

Why not run it on gas?

D.

We have never managed to get it to work on gas as the ignition continually flashes and does not stop, but without igniting the gas.

Battery power on a 3 way fridge is normally only for power from the starter battery when the engine is running so doesn't work when you are pitched.

Lesley,
For the benefit of thsoe who have yet to have their fridge go kaput could you tell us what the problem was and how your knight in shining armour, or rather shabby jeans, fixed it and does it now work on gas too?

Glad it is now working?

Norman

dependant on model, the ignitor on fridges is either piezo crystal, so push button or 12v with a capacitor. Not seen a built in fridge that takes batteries like some gas fires do

Latest update on Lesley and Alan's fridge...

Not "working" although the burner is burning so my apprentice, Mr Green (The Generator Man aka The Sausage and Bacon Smuggler)) suspects the liquid/gas has leaked out as it appears there is no cooling occuring despite running for a few hours...

As the "expert" :)Rofl1::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:) I tend to agree with him... :winky:

only one final thing to try before total replacement. Turn the fridge upside and leave it for half an hour then try again. Good luck (oh you could pop across to morocco and let then fix it with a band aid and camel fart.
Really cheap repairs there I'm told).:ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

Good thinking Roger but as the fridge was working on the way down a couple of days ago we don't think it is that...

off to Marocco then for a regas (if they can find the leak). Might even be able to get a regas in Spain. I know they don't do it in the uk any more.

Not helpful in this case but in one of my past vans the igniter was driven by a single 1.5 volt dry cell in the bottom of the fridge below the door. I only found it by chance and the cell was probably as old as the van, corroded but still working.

(calling it a cell deliberately as some [STRIKE]smartarse[/STRIKE] one will otherwise correct me by telling me its only a battery if it has more than one cell :roflmto:)
