We will be arriving at Marjal at the end of March for two months, we have decided not to bring the car on A Frame as there seems to be lots of hassle around with it at present. We have a 28ft. motorhome, Peter has limited mobility. How close are the nearest towns villages? I read somewhere a 20 min bike, ride is this on the flat, are they busy roads?
How feasible would it be for us to uese the motorhome to get around, we always used to use it to drive in the outskirts of places then travel in. We are going to allow for some taxi's and maybe even a car hire. Don't want to be stuck completely on site, but really not happy with all the reports re: A frames. A trailer is out of the question
Thanks

I should hope not. There are so many places in Spain that should be seen it would be criminal to see only a leisure centre car park.

Unfortunately Marjal is near non of these many sights.

Crevillente is the nearest small town, then Elche slightly further away both are inland from the coast, you are between 18/20 miles from a beach and about the same distance from Alicante

Looking for palms.... look here..

It is with good reason that Logan Botanic Garden is often referred to as 'Scotland’s most exotic garden'.

Nestling on the peninsula known as the Rhinns of Galloway at the most south westerly tip of the Scottish mainland, it enjoys the warming influence of the Gulf Stream and experiences exceptionally mild winters. As a result, a remarkable collection of exotic plants, many from the Southern Hemisphere, flourishes in the benign climate.

Where to see the Logan Palms:
Logan Botanic Garden is approximately 22.4km (14 miles) south of Stranraer, Dumfries and Galloway, on the B7065 road. The garden is a specialist garden of the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh and has been in its care since 1969. The gardens are open daily from 1 March to 31 October and admission charges apply.

Is Elche the place with the palm tree forest?

Yes, it´s the place with the palm trees. I am an Ilicitano (name of Elche's inhabitants) and I´m very proud of my city, so please ask anything you want about Elche (or surroundings) not about Alicante (because it is our rival city and I won´t be objective)

PD: I am speaking as Raimon not as Marjal now :winky:

Raimon, is there a shuttle bus running between the old marjal and the new one so that people can perhaps get to a beach and at least Guadamar without taking their motorhome with them? Especially those that are not taking a car with them
If not would this perhaps be a service to possibly consider in general, I know last year they were doing road alterations around the area and in places it was quite confusing (like being directed for a few kms in the wrong direction to a roundabout where you could then start to go in the correct direction again, I went to visit friends at the old Marjal and traveled from San Miguel cutting across using local roads till i got to the n332 which was full of road alterations
