Avoid anything Microsoft....it's too simplistic....there are template based page builders out there for free...I use adobe as I have CS2 suite...

Practice what you preach!

Sell everything at cost, and at a loss to anyone needy!

Pay your staff more than you, and donate any excess to charity!

Oh yes and use Tiger commerce for your website as they will actually help you unlike my comments lol

A lot of the web design software produces bloated sites that look templated.
The only real way to create a decent website is to either use a CMS or preferably create your own using a html and css I use notepad for doing mine:ROFLMAO:. The latter will take quite a bit of effort as there is a learning curve.

I would recommend getting a good book on css and html.

If you don't have the time to learn (and it will take some time) and you need a pro site then it is worth paying a decent web designer to do a couple of page templates for you which you can then edit to create your full site.

However if you just want a quick and dirty site then there are loads of free packages out there but they will invariably use html table tags to do layout amongst other things which is seriously bad practice.

Could waffle on a lot more but won't bore you:Doh:

I agree with Gromett. It all depends on the skill level you possess and what the contents of the site are to be. It's a matter of choosing a tool which meets those criteria.

Weborama is an easy tool to use for people with html knowledge.

Newbie!
If you are after simplicity and currently don't have a host, 1&1 has a pretty good simple website builder.

www.1and1.co.uk - Not sure what their prices are like though.

I do all my webcoding in Notepad. ::bigsmile:

Try Serif Webplus, cheap as chips and very user friendly. These are a few of the sites I have built RTC Moor Farm Posh Web

i would agree, enables flash, shopping carts, everything, and simple to use.

Depending on what features you need you can (I think) download an older version free from their website

I am so sorry Boss Man Jim... I had no idea that you had a spare minute of your valuable time to design, host and baby sit another website. You spend so much of that valuable time giving us at Opus Magazine the best service in the world...:thumb:

(I think I might get off with just a reprimand now...:winky:)
