I saw a KHYAM Motordome Excelsior Quick erect drive away awning demonstrated at the Manchester Caravan & Motorhome Show today, it looked very impressive, any Funsters got one of these, can you report back on the robustness of them, any comments please? The guy doing the demonstation was very good, just a bit adrift on his show price compared to KHYAM's retail. :thumb:

Hi there. We do not have the Motordome, though know some who have. We do have a Khyam Screenhouse which has the same pole system and it is very easy to put up / take down and very good in strong winds too. A handy 'tent' to have around. The Motordome awnings are in themselves very good just some people decide they do not like having to throw straps over the van and sometimes there is a problem with the habitation door on the van catching the awning (any type of awning) so in brief: It is a good product if it does the job you want it to do in the way you want it done! We have a Kyam screen house and it is very easy to put up and take down. We see a lot of this make of tents at dog shows in Ireland and they seem to be robust and come highly recommended. I am sorry that we did not get the MH awning one as it would be a lot easier to put up than the one we have.

We bought a Motordome Excelsior not long after we bought our van. Great if you are staying somewhere for a while but a bit bulky if you are moving often and have to keep taking it down. Must be the easiest types of awning to erect and dismantle though. If you have an awning rail or J rail there is no need to throw straps over the van.

4 and many as a tugger
Had mine for about 4 years and would not be without it. It has seen some extreme winds and the only time it looked like it may have come to harm was last November. A few pegs came out but it still stayed put.I have put it up/took it down on my own with no problem.

Like bobandjane and kathandhowie we have had one of these screen rooms for a few years and can confirm they are easy to erect and are good pitch markers

Well that`s our 13th year & still loving it.
kyham

We had one bought it new for our previous motorhome and have to say I could put it up on my own in a couple of minutes, so easy to just unfold the legs and voila up it goes.
Highly recommended as a drive away and leave, only fualt we thought was it was a bit too dark when zipped up but great to keep the rain off the entrance to the motorhome if you were staying for a couple of days.:thumb:
