If a vehicle is in the category where it is damaged repairable, once the damage has been repaired, can the classification be removed? And how would you go about this?

No from me as well.

i think the vehicle is stuck with the 'black mark' for life which would make it harder to sell later.

as long as its been repaired to an acceptable standard and had an official engineers report it should be perfectly OK to use though.




Vehicles categorised as A, B or C require a VIC (vehicle identity check) test before the DVLA will issue a new registration document. This will then be noted on the V5C.



cat A.....total write off and should be crushed, including any usable spare parts
cat B...spares OK but body crushed.
cat C...extensive damage but repairable.
cat D...minor damage but not worth repairing due to cost... repairable.
cat F...fire damage....repairable

Aug 09 to date 9,000 miles!
ISTR hubby #1 having to take vehicles to be inspected - was it by the Police?- after repair of one category of write off, but it's been a long time and can't remember exactly.
