For the first time today, out of curiosity rather than need, we travelled on the recently opened AP46(A45) Toll Road south of Antequera which runs to the west of Malaga City by-passing the worst of the traffic, around Santa Barbara slip road, for those heading towards Algeciras. €3.05 for the journey which took us through the "Montes de Malaga" with some fabulous views all around, which were worth the price of entry. An amazing feat of planning and engineering.... if in the area, worth a trip/look.

No idea regarding price structure as it only opened about 4/6 weeks ago. Will ask the question next time I am in town and let you know.

Now, drivers must pay 3.05 euros to travel along it, a fee which will increase to 4.60 euros between June to September, and during Easter week. However, it was announced on Thursday that use of the new toll road will be free of charge at night. For light vehicles, there is no charge between midnight and 6am, while heavy vehicles can travel free between 10pm and 8am.

PS: Just read the link above and it reminds me that the off ramp to Malaga Airport is not open yet and those going there should take the Churriana off ramp and back track to airport.

Toll Road Web Site

Picked up a leaflet yesterday on way to airport, the link below should take you to the English language page and gives all of the information you might need if travelling on new road.
