Reading posts on here about municipal sites in France, is there a book that lists them, either in French or preferably, English?

Most are in the alanrogers guide to French campsites, get it from www.alanrogers.com

However many municipal sites are now sold or being sold and run privately, because that way the town gets a nice income and something less to run!

Hi Dave
I also use Pocket GPS world but are you sure you got French sites ?
Did you remember to 'refresh' the POI list after selecting France ?

There are no campsite POIs listed in the France list..

Hi Guys just a quick post before I dash of to work, the POI with 2500 sites is from http://www.myfavouritecampsite.com it wouldn't be fair for me to put it in the download section, if you go on their site and make I believe 3 posts you can download it and others for britain, germany etc.

Risky Jim, once you start using the dell you will realise what you have been missing, and may not go back to the Mac. >:)

Well, always one for fairness, I have been using it recently, it was gathering dust in the locker...
I decided to try it out in ernest and give Vista a go.. I downloaded a few updates, installed AVG , Adaware .. oh the excitement .. the good old days of scanning for viruses and knocking out trojans, I realised what I had been missing.. :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

Seriously.. its' early days .. but it's not bad, my main reason for buying the Dell was to run Autoroute 2007, previously when I tried it with Vista it wouldn't run properly, now it works a treat, GPS and voice guidance is faultless..

Now if only Apple had something as good as Autoroute ..

Hi Olley

with Autoroute you can plan and taylor the route to avoid undesirable roads much easier than you can on TT and it's displayed on a 15" screen.. it augments TT rather than a replacement for, but for route guidance TT is hard to beat.

The truth is, it's another nice toy to play with.. :roflmto::roflmto:

Hi Olley
Agree with Jim. We used Autoroute for our trip to France last year, and one of the features that I really liked was that you can set it to give a much bigger area, and so are prepared in advance for junctions and turns etc. With TT I find that it tells me about the turn ahead of time but you have no opportunity to see where that takes you, but with Autoroute you can see the advised turn but maybe decide to use the next turn for logistical reasons. It is also great having it on a 15" screen in my opinion :thumb:

Hi Olley

Works good, I have a usb gps that I bought to use with Route 66 on the Mac but it's no longer supported and isn't nearly as good as Autoroute.
Requires a serial / usb driver download from http://www.usb-drivers.com/companies/1661.htm

To find municipal sites I usually Google the name of the town, most towns in France will have a web site with local accommodation, including campsites.

Hi Ralph

When you've completed all of France will you post the results.. ? :roflmto:

Jim

That's why I only check where I am going and just before we go, France is too big to make lists on your own.
