Where is my battery (1 Viewer)

Any help or advice would be appreciated

I have a 2009 Lunar Roadstar fiat ducato 3.0 multijet

the cab battery goes flat over winter and i have used the car to start it occasionally

I would like to give it a proper charge, but cant find it :Blush:

I dont think the cab battery charges on hook up

I could connect a battery charger to the terminals under the bonnet, but dont know if i need to take the caps off that cover the distilled water/ acid and lead plates, in to release pressure that builds up if sealed

help and advice will be gratefully received

Mine is under the floor passenger side biggish panel to remove then another under it. :thumb:

Try the panel in the passenger side floor. The plastic panel lifts out revealing the battery & some large fuse blocks

use the battery jumping point under the bonnet to charge it the floor lifts in the front footwell to reveal the battery

for normal charging you shouldn't need to remove the caps, if it has any.

it will either be self venting or have a vent tube.

a standard car charger (4amps-ish) will work fine over a day or two.

two more questions if thats ok

1 I did remove a plastic / rubber panel in the floor on the passenger side, which revealed a metal plate with 13mm bolts holding a metal plate / cover in place. Is the battery under that?

using the battery jumping point is no problem but I am concerned that I havent then removed the cell caps like I used to have to do on my mini 30 years ago when charging it :Blush: are all modern btteries sealed now or are you still suposed to remove the covers when charging?

but if you want to rapid charge it (20/30amps) it may be worth removing them as the levels may need topping up.

If you have a handbook look in page 202/203, I have it on pdf, if you want it send your email by PM and I will try to send it you, the panel you want in the floor is in the centre front and has no metal plate at least mine does not just plastic turn buckles

On my 2006 roadstar the cab battery will charge on hook up only when battery is selected on the control panel.

thanks Lunarman, the display is all digital, so not sure its as straight forward as that, but will giveit a go

Loosen the 2 13mm bolts & the metal plate will hinge forward to reveal the battery, or you can slide it out if you need greater access.

I have the 3 ltr fiat .and my battery lives centrally in front of the driver and passenger seats in the floor. Large panel comes off to reveal battery.

Mine is almost certainly a goner...........I took it out ( heavy swine) and took it to a local battery specialist and he is trying to revive it ...but the readings were very low.

Looks like I may have to buy a new one next week.
I am now thinking of buying and fitting a battery managment system that will top up the vehicle battery automatically like the battery management unit from VanBitz
