There seem to be two types of 'intelligent' solar controllers PMW (Pulse Modulation Wide Frequency) and MPPT (Maximum power point tracking)

Both claim to give the best output/charging. Anyone any knowledge of whether one is better than the other ?

Yes better and thus always more expensive

In practice a PMW controller of 30A with an LCD display is much the same price as an MPPT one without the LCD. If the MPPT one is much better then worth getting. The display is really only to check its actually doing what it should be.

Mine is fine at what was £69 from Taiwan. Avoid Wellsee

Don't be kidded by retailers and the like about where stuff is made and Chinese crap.
The so called STECA German regulators are nothing of the sort as you will recognise all of their models here but with the manufacturers name on :ROFLMAO:
