Word 2010 (1 Viewer)

Carolyn recently bought Office 2010 with 3 licenses.
She installed it on her new lappy,and I installed it on my desktop.
On Sunday eve I tried to open the attachment in Frankies 'To you ALL' post-it opened in Notepad and not Word. Carolyn then opened it on her lappy-it opened in Word as it should.
I have re-configured Word (winword /r)-no change.
I got Carolyn to send me a Word doc which opened as it should.

So.......HELP !! Can anyone explain what's wrong and offer a solution?

Firstly check that the file is associated with the correct program.
Right click on the file and choose properties.
In the General tab at the top it should say "opens with" Word
If not, click on the change button and select Word.
Make sure you tick the box at the bottom of the selector window which says "Always use the selected program to open this kind of file"
