We have not seen this before. Now is it a fungus? It is a "jelly" like substance growing on broken off tree branches, loads of it around. :Smile:

Nope not Jews Ear Roger.
It is bright orange and is a jelly like substance. Possibly not a fungus on reflection. Perhaps some kind of insect eggs? :Doh:

Looks like Yellow Brain Fungus - Tremella mesenterica

Often very distinctive, appearing as it does in winter, usually Dec-march. Fruit bodies are bright orange-yellow and jelly-like, forming convoluted, brain-like masses on dead twigs of deciduous trees.

Now Lynda has gone all clever and got the fungus book out, its not 100% definable but its 99% Yellow Brain Fungus (tremella mesenterica )

It will not kill you but its better left in situ

Couple of possibilities for you-Tremella mesenterica,Yellow Brain fungus or Dacryomyces stillatus,Orange jelly.
Most probably the Yellow Brain fungus as Orange Jelly is specific to conifer woods and at higher altitude.

Mike-well,carolyn actually ::bigsmile:
