It's a domestic type handle on the Rapido, I would suggest taking it apart and making sure everything moves freely.

Sounds to me like return spring inside handle has broken.

remove handle and check, return springs are pretty standard
you should be able to source one from any old household door
handle. there is normally a spring on each handle ie. inner and outer.
looks like both could have broken.heres a link so you can see what your looking
for
Broken Link Removed

hope this helps regards
Steve

Funny thing, mine does the same, however if you put the handle up by hand it stays there so probably only one spring broken on mine. Let us know how you get on fixing yours and I may get round to fixing mine before the other spring goes.:thumb:

I have looked in to this online it would appear that the door lock is a weak point on rapido. There is a thread on the dark side regarding this problem cost of replacement £200.

I had a similar proble this summer.
I took apart the handle and found the spring had slipped out of position but it wasn't broken.
Be careful as you take the assembly apart - it took me ages to find the spring after it pinged out (bugger).
It also took a couple of minutes to work out how to put it back but since then it has worked perfectly.
You'll need a small Allen key to get the handle off.
Hope that helps
Mike

you could always stick a bungee cord on the handle and over the top of the door as a temporary measure :thumb:
