Hmmmn, what defines a solo, if I come on my own, does that make me a solo? .....

We could have the first Motorhome Fun, Solo's Speed Dating Meet........ Could be interesting....

Maybe I have been up all night working, (yes some of us sadly have to) and maybe now I need to get some sleep...................but imagine, you could have 3 minutes each, gazing into the eyes of the likes of Hilldweller, ShiftZZ, Popeye Roadrunner and Yosser Hughes, and sharing the most intimate of thoughts.......:Eeek::Eeek:

However, I think if you meet and hook up with another solo, you then are no longer a solo, two solos together make a couple, n'est ce pas?

JJ can you confirm this one.........?:Blush:

Hi, that solo meets forum section is very little used, it was set up a long time ago and has proved to be not really necessary.

At almost every meet and get together we have, there are solo travellers. Book yourself on a meet next year and I guarantee that before long you will have a list of ladies just like yourself who travel alone, quite a few guys travel on their own too. Rallies are good places to meet because there are lots of people around and you all arrive with one thing in common, you are Funsters.

Hopefully we'll see you on a meet soon:thumb:

Hilldweller....yeah, ShiftZZ.... maybe,. ...Popeye . Defo, Roadrunner ...Ican see that.

But YOSSER, whatever you do, DO NOT, I repeat DO NOT look directly into his eyes, Lynne did all those years ago and now look at her, trapped, enslaved, darns his socks and underwear, I feel so sorry for her; don't you make the same mistake.

lots of solo members at the shows

It does not matter if you are a solo or a couple .. they all mix and have fun. We have often seen new members that are solo arrive and they are soon made welcome and just become part of the fun group... no pressure on anyone do as much or little as you want. All are welcome

Hi Roger, hope you are well.

re the singles.... to be quite honest I don't really go in for it.... I am always wary that it might be seen that I am looking for a partner.

I go to the ordinary meets and have made lovely friends, couples, singles, male, female and probably some inbetween...... my email box is always full of lovely mail from them.... If I had just gone to solo meets I would have lost out a lot.

The best way to meet solos is to go to the general meets. You will meet everyone there ... and learn who to avoid, and who will become really good friends. I have had lovely holidays in the van with solos of both sexes (purely friends) and meet up when they are nearby to where I live, for meals or nights out.

As a solo, I can understand reasons why you want to go to solo meets. As another solo once said to me ... they hate the way that single women are seen as a threat.. I can honestly say that apart from one person, this has never happened to me on Motorhomefun.... the couples have always been welcoming and friendly and warm .... please come along and try it.

The next meet that I am at is hopefully New Year ... still waiting confirmation mum is in respite .... so if you are not too far away you are welcome to join me for a coffee in the day at some local meeting place... the meet is fully booked up so I guess you couldn't come to the field. Just pm me to let me know.

Joy

As a solo traveller I did have concerns about my first couple of meets.

I didn't want to go to solo only meets because I was worried it may be a dating type thing which I didn't want.
I was worried about the normal meets as I didn't want to be a gooseberry type.

Then when I started going to the meets I was concerned that if I talked to solo females they may think I was on the sniff. If I talked to male ones I may have either given the wrong idea or prevented them going on the sniff..

Now... I don't even think about it. Thanks to the funster meets I just talk to anyone who is friendly:thumb::thumb:

I have noticed that quite often a couple of the ladies will start talking about something that causes hubbies to roll their eyes, at which point they remember they need to borrow a tool off someone to get a job done. You then end up with a group of blokes chatting with a beer in hand and a bunch of women with a glass of wine or G and T in hand.

All in all the meets are so relaxed and fun it doesn't matter whether you are solo, couple or family, vegetarian, meat eater, male, female or anything else. Firstly you are a funster and fun is the name of the game ::bigsmile:

Hi Joy, I know we haven't met yet but WHEN we do I will make sure that Jackie see's you as a REAL threat, I'll give you such a hug and whisk you into my van for a coffee or a quick squint at my etchings it'll make her head spin.

Joking apart, I think you've dished out sound advice, if I were on my own I would feel a bit odd going to the solo meets and would want to make as many female buddies as male and generally enjoy the fun side of this group of "Nutters".

Look forward to our first meeting with you.

Sorry to "hijack" the thread but the words "Big Magic Show" does not really generate the right image for a Luis de Matos one man theatre show...:winky:

Magic Show always suggests balloon modelling and screaming children to me...:Eeek: :Eeek:

Young kids would find the show a little bit serious but if you like mind boggling, impossible to explain effects with cards and salt and rope and fish and broken glass and butterflies and brilliant lighting and sound and a modern, spectacular state of the art set, then pop along to Estoril Casino... maybe I should start a new thread...

JJ

...oh and I was solo when I went to my first meet and I was a little apprenhensive as to what it would be like but it was fantastic and I have made many super friends and, after a couple of years, found one special one.. (No Yosser, not you...) (although you are special...:ROFLMAO:)

Solos

Don't worry there are loads of us solos around! :thumb:

I too asked for the solo password only to be informed that nobody ever uses that part of the site. I thought orginally that solos would be more outgoing than couples, but it appears that funsters whether attached or not are pretty welcoming.

I have found that us solos do seem to naturally gravitate to each other at meets. So far, I've not felt excluded from anything - there are people to chat with when I want to, and I can always do my own thing if I want to. Obviously the more meets you go to the easier it gets to socialise.

Anyway, welcome to the site and feel free to PM me if you've any questions. :welcomefunster:

Well, thanks to all for the info! That was really great!

I'm still trying to work out how this site works.....some of the replies to my solo question seem to be to others, and not me, even though I've asked the question..I'm missing something somewhere. Never mind, will get there eventually! I cant even see where to log in when I click on an email link yet! And I cant find where to answer each new answer to my thread....its all very confusing! But I'm getting by as best I can!

That sounded lilke sound advice on the solo thing! I'll more than likely drag a friend along with me most of the time anyway!

Have a lovely weekend!xx
