difficult question, I know, as everyone will have their own preference, but would like your opinions as to the best type of alarm to fit. Want one that can be set at night as well as day and are any of them dog friendly (thats to say will want to leave dog on it at some point during day to go shop etc, not for any great length of time I might add to all you fellow dog lovers!)
also read once of a guy who was accosted on garage forecourt and set his alarm off via fob which frightened thugs away, think that was a van blitz, am really bamboozaled by all the different ones available

Its just a matter of due diligence and selection

When you filter out the alarms that really are car alarms poorly adapted and unsuited to motorhomes, that narrows it down a bit.

Choosing a specialist motorhome alarm that is Thatcham approved narrows it down further.

Choose a company that has an excellent reputation for the quality of their workmanship and the list is getting small.

Choose a company where the owners has been a motorhome enthusiast for over 20 years so really knows what works and what doesn't, your list is getting very small now.

A company that has a nice campsite right next to the workshops

A company that will give you all that and 15% off if you are a funster

Hi any alarm is fine but insurance co's like cat 1s -you can easy turn off the internal sensors to leave pets in etc cat 1s start around 100 quid upwards

There are no doubt many alarms on the market. We chose to have a Vanbitz Strike Back Alarm fitted 7 years ago. Since that time it has worked perfectly, if the alarm is triggered a text message is sent to my mobile phone within seconds. It is also highly regarded by all of the insurance companies I have used. If ever I get a new van a Vanbitz Strike Back Alarm will be my first purchase to be fitted to it.

Does it do what it says on the tin? yes you can alarm up the vehicle from the fob so a dog can be left on board - same at night. we had a couple of extra horns fitted on the chassis .. very loud.. we did not have the devils wail in the cab as the out side one's we think are loud enough as our neighbours know. We do from time to time manage to set them off. (I say to prove they work)...normall means have caught the fob and it has rearmed as I have got in or I have opened the door and forgot to disarm the system.

I think it is horses for courses and how much you want to spend or can afford. My insurance company insited I had a Thatcham cat 1 fitted, regardless of the American ford system and alarm we already had..so we have two systems.

What I would say was the alarm system was fitted professionally and tidy... you only get what you pay for.

Hi, we have the Van Bitz Strikeback alarm, very happy with it and them as a company spot on. Well worth the trip and a free nights camping at Cornish Farm. We only had one problem while in France and after the security checks over the phone told us what to do so it worked, and sent a new part out free of charge, and it was waiting for us when we got home. :thumb:


Just wished Eddie was giving the funsters discount when we had ours done !

I would say the best you can get, its never gone off when its not meant to, unlike the one on the last van. oh: And we would have it fitted to any vans we have in the future. :thumb: Bob.

There are plenty to choose but remember you get what you pay and you cant afford to cut corners with and alarm.
We have the Van Bitz Stright back too, so I think you can see a pattern starting to emerge

I have had a vanbitz in the past and can recommend them as first class they are now cheaper with the discount they are offering at the moment and its a real bargain not inflated price first then knocked down as you find in some so called sales.I have recommended them many times on the forums I have no connection with them other than a happy customer in the past. Speak to them they will not try to sell you something you do not need and know their stuff
