Right then funsters a little help wanted :thumb: not stright forward more like finding a needle in a haystack ::bigsmile:
Last year we went to a resteraunt in Bridlington where we got what they called a Snowball cake.(only avaiable this time of year) I asked how they had made it but it is one they buy in :Sad:and she could not or would not tell me from where or womb they got it from  I spotted that it came from a bakery in Devon ::bigsmile:Does anyone know of a firm that makes and delivers such a thing? All I remember was it is filled with marsh mellow :thumb: possibly topped with merang and it was frozen because we had to wait for it to unfreeze before it was served ::bigsmile:It must be supplied to resteraunts etc, so I was wondering if any ALL knowing funsters may know where it was baked :thumb:::bigsmile: A big ask I know but you lot are good at puzzels :ROFLMAO: and I would get a delicious cake and brownie points :winky:

Christmas Snowball Cake is a beautiful and impressive dessert, as well; big enough to serve at the largest of holiday gatherings. The simple elegance of it sitting on a holiday platter is stunning.
Children will ooh and ah because it really does resemble a giant snowball and grown-up guests will keep coming back for more.
Christmas Snowball Cake Recipe

Adapted from a recipe by, Nettie Lagrange in, Les Cuisiniéres de Broussardville – n.d.

Ingredients:
  • 1 large can crushed pineapple (only ½ of the pineapple fruit is used)
  • 2 envelopes unflavored gelatin
  • ¼ cup cold water
  • 1 cup boiling water
  • 1 cup sugar
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • Juice of 2 lemons
  • 1 box or bag frozen strawberries, thawed
  • 1 cup miniature marshmallows
  • 1 large tub and 1 small tub Cool Whip
  • 1 prepared Angel Food tube cake
  • 1 cup coconut, shredded
Instructions:
  1. Drain pineapple, reserving liquid.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, dissolve gelatin in ¼ cup cold water.
  3. Stir in the boiling water, sugar and salt and allow to cool.
  4. Stir the pineapple juice and lemon juice into the cooled gelatin mixture.
  5. Place bowl in the refrigerator and allow the gelatin to begin to thicken.
  6. When the gelatin has thickened, stir in the ½ can of pineapple, strawberries, marshmallows and the large tub of Cool Whip.
  7. Break the Angel Food cake into small chunks and stir them into the gelatin mixture, making sure that all cake pieces are coated well.
  8. Line a separate large mixing bowl with foil, and pour mixture into the foil-lined bowl.
  9. Smooth and level the surface of the cake mixture.
  10. Cover the bowl with foil or plastic wrap and place the bowl in the refrigerator to chill overnight; at least 12 hours.
  11. When cake is set, remove the covering and invert onto a large cake plate or platter.
  12. Carefully remove foil liner from cake.
  13. Frost the cake with the small tub of Cool Whip and sprinkle with coconut.
  14. Store Snowball Cake in the refrigerator until time to serve.
Snowball Cake makes an especially beautiful presentation when served on dessert plates garnished with sprigs of fresh mint leaves and tiny Red Hot cinnamon candies.

Could you phone the restaurant of last year and tell them it's for a special birthday/wedding/bahmitzvah / whatever and they may reveal their supplier now? Might be different staff a year on.

Already thought of that-- they offered to get one for us last year but would not reveal surpliers. If I asked them to get me one now it would also entail a 160 mile round trip :whatthe:Now I know I luv her but that is a bit far to go :ROFLMAO:
