Well I've had a good look around and this seems like a nice place. But I just realised its a subscription site!!!!!!! It looks like 12000 of you have paid your subs making someone a lot of money. Why should I pay? Is it worth it?

be a fool not to, when we went subscription a lot decided maybe not but within a couple of months they were back and quite happy to pay, at the end of the day a tenner is not a lot to pay for the information and banter available not to mention rallies and meets

and this is not to mention funsters that live in france etc that offer help in anyway they can should you develop probs in their country

Jim doesn't get 12000 paying members, more like 1000 and unlike a certain other forum this one is not run purely for commercial gain.

anyway as you are as you say an old git you will fit in well here:ROFLMAO:

i think that 12000 should read 1200,and it's worth a tenner easily, but if you feel you know every thing about motorhomeing and dont enjoy a laugh, then sadly this is not the forum for you.
As far as the owner makeing a lot of money,he still has his day job cleaning the local londis for dia:ROFLMAO:.
And this is a hobby 100% for him and he is a real motorhomer,that own's and run's a motorhome.:thumb:
Dont forget you have to pay for server space and bandwidth with a forum this big:thumb:
i wish you well whatever your decide:thumb:

Why should I pay? Is it worth it?

You don't have to pay, you can read all you want for free. 12,000 do not pay, it's nearer 1000.

But if you want to join in then for a gallon and a half of diesel you can for a whole year.

Bottom line is one of these sites costs time and money, 1000 or so think Jim should not pay out of his own pocket, why should he.

So what better deal can you get for your tenner ?

That is what it cost for these two beers......

Well worth it.
No profit is made, and take 12000 with a pinch of salt.
I have had good advice on here regarding technical issues and travel.
You will meet good folk on the meets, etc. Mostly just daft folk enjoying themselves.
Also, if you use the chat room and forum, you will, like me, gain freinds you havent met yet.

Up to you.

Hi Bill, maybe we will have 12,000 subscribers one day  but presently we have around 1000:thumb: You don't have to pay, there is still plenty to see, but you will be a read only funster. Subscribers can post in the forums to ask or answer questions or share a story, they attend rallies, use the downloads section, see less adverts, along with a load of other benefits. Hang around, join in, you'll soon know if you want to subscribe, I hope you do:thumb:

Only you can decide but before you do read on:-

The site is full of both working and retired people amongst them ex fire-fighters, servicemen, teachers, nurses, motor traders, Mums, dads, engineers, electricians, small traders, Fray Bentos pie eaters, photographers, cyclists, runners, tool makers, retailers, pilots, Shop owners, nautical types, council workers, probation officers, prison officers, mathematicians, scientists, civil servants, Jokers, policemen, Accountants, farmers, builders, Auctioneers, training officers, managers from all walks of life, Directors, factory workers, plant drivers, plasterers, solicitors, Doctors, Genealogists, Researchers, Mid-wives, testers, Carers, Fishermen, Naturists, shooting types, keep-fit fanatics, drinkers, Oil field workers, Microscopists, Zoologists, Biologists, Professional p*ss takers, Botanists, Trekkers, Strikers, hairy arsed Bikers, Hikers even got Trikers, Truckers, silly old [STRIKE]Fu[/STRIKE] Fellows, Black Cab drivers, fork lift drivers, Bus drivers, Lecturers, Cinema-photographers, amateur radio enthusiasts, amateur operatic, IT specialists, I’ve missed corn Merchants, gravel merchants, coal merchants and wind-up merchants (mostly from Cornwall), nutters and of course ex tuggers, tenters even got some fibbers in here the list goes on.

However we draw the line at Estate Agents and ex Street entertainers.

Now of course we are all FUNSTERS.

They all love the site, hope you do to, as for me, wish I’d never stumbled across the site, I’d have been £10 richer and countless friends poorer.

Depends on what you want out of a forum..

there are plenty of free motorhome forums that will answer questions.... mostly hobby type sites with little or no cost involved in setting up or running.. just basic forums...

however, if you are looking for more, making friends, becoming part of a family, in effect a club. A site with resources, data bases, free classified ads, chat room, member discounts, etc .. you can't expect it to be provided for free..

Over the past 7 or 8 years I have been a member on many but have now settled down here, it's friendly and no matter what you own, no one gives a toss.. the banter is good and even when things get a bit heated rarely is anyone rude.. if they are they soon get short shrift from 'the boss'

Only you can decide if you will get your monies worth, and at the end of the day it's still a tenner .. My advice is to stick around , read the forums and get to know the members and what goes on.. After that if you need to ask if it's worth it, it's probably not for you ..

good luck.. hope you make the right choice..

Jim ..

As a new motorhomer I must agree that it's well worth a tenner for all the advice and help from those on this site. If you are looking for tips and advice on anything to do with motorhomes, sites etc it costs the tenner for the year. If you want a dealer to have a look at an issue with your mh it would cost a lot more. There are many books and magazines that have lists of sites but when were they last checked and the info updated. Ask about one or for one to be reccomended and you will soon have an answer.

:thumb:Many thanks to all those who have already helped me.:thumb:

Jim, got the stickers today. Hope I'll spot another funster soon.

Answer for me was simple - a friendly site - great people - met hundreds of Funsters now - every one a good'en

The subs @ £10 does not make anyone a fortune - the site has to be paid for - someone has to be on hand to sort out problems - It also covers for insurance for rallies and meets the cost of the club marque etc etc. When you have had a good look around you will find that with reductions at shows - discounts from suppliers etc you will actually save money.

Unless of course you have everything - don't get your motorhome repaired or serviced and are antisocial so you never go to meets or shows.:Eeek:

I would not have met Bill & Shirley (Landylover) if I had not joined the forum, I would have not have been in the MHF club area at Shepton and that ment I would not have parked next to them... like wise I would not have meet Rick (Motor romin) or Roger or Dodgey, movan, Clive & Rhian, and John & Bruno, captain pugwash... his fault I now have a Ukelele .. and dozens of others on this site and the sister site of RVOC.. whay is RVOC? it is a sister site for RV owners.. I even pay subs there so it must be good.

Best £10 ever spent. I have meet loads and loads of people on the forum, exchanged banter, got advise, given advice, debated issues and had a good laugh.. who could not laugh at JJ .. a chap to brighten anyones day.. despite his football club following and his frey bentos pies... Hearing the banter of Old Mo and Larry (both yank owners) .. the only down side of you joining us as far as I can see is you have a Hymer:cry:... but as Jim has one now, what can I say..well a lot, but will not be allowed to I guess:Blush:

Well being Scottish i like to make sure if i spend money i get my monies worth, well never mind the tenner i paid i think about the money iv'e saved due to some great advise and tips on here. Also more importantly to me are the friends i have made on here both just to chat with and ones i have met in the flesh, cant put a value on that.
