I've just got an email - pay up €50.

No problem.

But, "no checks", just bank details.

I seem to recall last time the problem arose ( the Italian Job ) the banks charged the earth to do a transfer in Euros. Many sent a €50 note in the post.

Can't you improve on this Raimon ?

Have I missed something ?

Both the other posts are exactley my thoughts..

Dont email bank details to no one..

If there is not another way ie Paypal I will have to pay on arrival ..

If they refuse the discount on arrival..

I have filled in the pre booking form so if that does not suffice, will go some where else..

Srely THEY send you THEIR bank account details, IBAN etc, and then you go to your bank and pay?

Seem to think the only time we had to do it, ? 6 years ago, cost about £20. But we were sending summat like 150 Euros.

How is it that most Spanish campsites only except cash. When overwintering in Spain I always had to make 2 trips to the hole in the wall every month to get cash as that's all they understand. No wonder the Euro is in such a mess

It was bad enough then, but now its worse since Nationwide have started to charge for Euro withdrawals.

Correct.

Me grumpy old man, I'm not inclined to visit bank, get ripped off £20+ just to pay €50.

This is 2011, they need to try harder.

Nancy at Marjal has asked me for 50 euros too. I can pay by credit card (I will use my Nationwide one) and either phone them or email them the details. Jane

No way should you email it, it's just not secure.

Phone is not brilliant either, but better.

There is only one proper way, a secured internet page to a proper credit card handler.

Why no PayPal ?

Just had a look at Global Web Pay Kath, looks good to us. Once you have set up an account it will cost £49.77, payable by a UK debit card, to transfer €50 to Camping Marjal's bank account

with the amount of credit card fraud thats about today i only put details on secure pay sites.
you could however use such as a tuxedo pre-paid card and only load it with the amount you require to send and not worry as if it has no funds they cant remove them.

Dear Funsters,

Having read all your concerns about the deposit (an the thread's title), I´ll speak to the site´s manager regarding the deposit. I didn´t notice our secure online payment is not yet ready on our website, and I understand your worries about emailing the credit card details. Bank transfers in Spain are usually free to all EU countries, maybe it´s different with you in the UK, as someone was stating something about a 20 pounds bank fee.

Anyway I´ll get back to you later with a solution.

Thanks for your patience

Raimon

Ok, the site manager said that we won´t ask for a deposit this time :thumb: It will be the standard procedure in the future, but for this rally you will pay on arrival.

If any of you have already paid the deposit, you will pay 50€ less when making the payment on arrival.

Kind regards

Raimon

How is it that most Spanish campsites only except cash.

Quite simply, it is because almost all are on the fiddle.

Like Italy, tax evasion is systemic and one of the major reasons the Euro region is in such deep doodoo

You are on the list :)
I've been checking the calendar from the rate´s chart and I think in April High Season is only from the 4th to the 8th. The daily rate for high season with your funster 30% discount (if you book before opening) is 28€ per day. But please always confirm with reception my rate calculations and all sort of matters concerning bookings.

Cheers

I am working on it, but we won´t probably use it to receive payments but to make them because of Paypal fees for vendors. We'll have to study the possibility anyway.

Thanks for the suggestion anyway :thumb:

Hi Raimon
Thanks for answering my question. So I cant decide when Im there if I want to stay on, if I do it that way is it going to cost more than 28Euro.

I need to know before we leave if this is the case, because I will have to make arrangments to go elsewhere for the extra period.

Many thanks

Pat
