I think we need to know the weight of your motorhome to establish whether his licence covers your motorhome’s weight.

A few years ago i lent my son our motorhome so he could go rock climbing for the weekend with his very responsible mate.
It came back with no problems.
A few weeks later it came out that the funniest thing they found was when his mate was having a shower while my son was driving around a roundabout. ??????

Won't lend ours out FULL STOP

We took our caravan to a site then our son took it over for 3 days - they broke the bed the double glazing on the door and other little bits took me ages to repair especially the pull out ladder for the double bed

The change was after 1 Jan 1997. www.gov.uk/driving-licence-categories

Edit: Although you may have passed your test before 1/1/1997 you may have lost your C licence which allows you to drive over 3,500kg, in my case it is due to a minor loss of vision due to Glaucoma. After age 70 you will have to apply for the C retention and probably have to have a medical.

The mad thing is I cannot drive 3,600kg motorhomes, which are limited to 60mph, yet I can drive the 100kg lighter vans at 70mph!

If you bought the Roller Team Pegaso 740 you mentioned on an earlier post ,it has a max weight of 3500 kgs so if he has a standard car licence he can drive it assuming the gear changes( manual or automatic) etc are the same as On his licence.
But if you value your son's friendship and your motorhome I wouldn't bother. (y)

Wouldn't have took me ages to repair it...cos I'd have been straight down to the repair shop with him and his wallet in tow.

Wouldn't happen with me though :)

I did my own repairs - then I am sure what is repaired UNLESS I have a service guy I trust

The Service Engineer I have now I trust - although he will say X-Y-Z needs doing and I know You can do those but I need to sort out Q which works well for me and him

The Pegaso 740 may be taxed at 3500 kgs but its fairly useless with 350kgs of payload, but it could be used as a car for the 4 people it can carry which will allow some more diesel and perhaps some water.

We lent our first one out to daughter and have lent the last one out to her but drove it down to the campsite for her to use as a caravan with Grumpkids.
Have uprated this one (Roller Team 685) to ensure she cant use it but when youngest gets older we ll lend it as a caravan again.
The kids come in useful for leaving the van abroad by letting them borrow it on a campsite and we fly back then fly back out again and start our holiday in the South of France !
