Here's one to make your mouth water. I started a rumpot in the spring and finished it at the beginning of September. Had a sample tasting last week and it was so good I decided to start another one. The beauty of it is that you can get the fruits almost all year round nowadays so its not a seasonal job as it used to be. For the uninitiated, You acquire a largest pot that will hold about 4 litres with a lid. I have 2 which have had for years that I bought in Germany. You normally start with the first fruits of the season which are strawberries and follow on with seedless grapes, cherries, melon, raspberries, and I like a pineapple cut up into it.Weigh each fruit and add half its weight in sugar and keep the lot covered in dark rum. The rum will keep it indefinitely. It normally reaches its best in time for Christmas,if you can resist it that long. Personally have never managed it,that's why have started another one this week. Has any other funsters tried this delicacy.
