hi everyone
i have got my solar cells working the following is what i have
2 only 80 watts cell
300 amps of battery made up of 2 only eclocell 110 amp and 80 amp lead acid that came with the rv
the problem i have is that the alarm is fitted to chassie battery which will go flat after awhile so i have been run a cable from the leasurie battery to chassie battery whille i am park up only what will happen long term?

For a start all 4 batterie will equalise and the solar p[anels will try nd keep them all charged when there is daylight/sun avaiable
When there is no sun to speak of or snow on the panels all 4 batteries will go flat
What happes next depends on the size of able you have used

i have a regulator between the lesurie batteries and the cells this should stop them going flat. but i the mean time i think my chassie battery has died i need to get a new one should i buy it gilb or spain

by mixing battery sizes you are putting the two new ones at risk you have 2 x 110 and one 80, the regulator will charge as 3 x 80's and that will eventually kill the 110's or conversly keep trying to charge to 110 and the 80 will be over charged. When creating a battery bank the number one rule is that all batteries in that bank should be the same size and preferably same type and age.
the regulatorwill not protect the leisure batteries if they in turn are connected to the engine battery, the load i.e. the alarm will take them all down and as mentioned above the smaller of the batteries will die followed by the next smallest and that dead battey will eventually kill the lot.
what you need is a battery master that will transfer the solar charge to the engine battery once the leisure batteries are fully charged. Failing that I don't see why the alarm cannot be powered from the leisure batteries but will mean a rewire.
A regulator will prevent the batteries overcharging but if you take out more than the sun can put in they will go flat. remember you are connectin to the engine battery direct that takes the regulator out of the loop.
gib being a tax free zone should make a battery cheaper to buy there.

A rule that is ignored by all the motorhome converters!

Wet lead acid battery for the engine 90A with 2 x 110 Gel for the leisure all in parallel when the engine is running (with an alternator that is designed charge ONE 90Ah lead acid battery)
