At Shepton and looking at the above, 5g ready aerial, two unlocked sim ports at a good price.
Anyone got one?

Got one recently. Dead easy to fit and use. We use an unlimited tesco mobile sim (O2) at £20 per month in it. Had to buy an 30 day EE data package SIM to use in the 2nd sim slot whilst we were up in Gairloch recently. There was zero coverage up there on 02 , Three or Vodafone. Not the fault of the Avtex though, just down to location at the time. Have been using it back on the Tesco sim without any issues between Fife, down to Sandringham and now along in the New Forest. A nice bit of kit but just like a mobile phone, it still needs a sniff of coverage to work properly. Paired with a good SIM and its a thumbs up

I think it is, I’ve seen others say the same during my internet researching.
Is it good though and what aerial to use if I made my own using the Teltoniker ruta995?
Probably too good, unless you are technically minded (which I’m not) I’m still learning what it can do, but has been working well past 2 months we have been away in Europe, I have been using my iPhone to change settings on the move between sites/countries but a laptop would have been easier, started off in U.K. setting it up on a Smarty sim, but couldn’t work out settings for use abroad, so swapped with the Voda phone sim out of my mobile.
I use a Poynting MiMo with mine.

Sounds good, any suggestions would be welcomed.
I use a HUAWEI 5577 mifi connected to a Poynting roof mounted puck aerial, about £70 each.
At the moment I have a EE data sim which cost £40 single payment which lasts 5 months with 60 gb of data each month.
Its worked very well wherever we are, currently in North Wales on a CL near Barmouth.

Can anyone tell me how good the Avtex is for streaming to a smart tv, or any other wi fi set up come to that?
Thanks

Can’t answer your question yet but I expect it should be really good, we currently use a Firestick on our Avtex Pro, with hot spot data from our iPhones.
I would also like to hear from anyone with the Avtex system because I’ve just copied it by buying and fitting a Panorama Great White antenna, though ours has LTE and WiFi 2x2, the Avtex only having the LTE and a Teltonika RUT950 two sim router, same as the Avtex system.
I’m just about ready to fit the router now, having had to wait for the cables to be shortened, so should know the answer soon.

We can stream Netflix, Prime, Youtube plus all the 5 main UK channels on ours. In fact we dont bother using the tv aerial anymore. Easier to just use catchup or ‘watch live’

Got it up and running today though I can’t report on performance other than there is no signal at the storage to my iPhone but connected to the router I could download to Facebook etc slowly.
I also lined the above oven area with ceramic blanket, as suggested by Lenny HB to protect the wires, though need to replace the nylon cable ties with wire.
I’d like some sort of cable tidy/wire separator to keep the aerial cables apart, don’t know if this is necessary.

Since 2008 & many years tugging
I noticed you lagged the roof vent pipe. I didn't do that on mine as the plastic nut was discoloured with heat and I thought it would make it worse.

Had a couple of nights away so able to use it properly and wish I’d done it ages ago.
The Amazon Firestick connected easily and ran fast without a hint of buffering, both iPhones/iPads and Liz did some RBL work on the MacBook Air.
We have a data only 4GB sim costing £6.40 a month that we gift data to from our phones that have 120GB each, soon to change to 150GB each, so no worries about gigs.
So simple and easy, the real surprise was watching Netflix through the Firestick using the free site WiFi, it just took a minute to download the program then away it went, though I always worry about the unsecure network warnings.
Really glad I decided to pay the £25 extra for WiFi 2X2.
Well worth the effort and the cost, £240 for the Panorama Great White 2X2 mimo LTE/WiFi antenna, including the thick roof kit and £85 for a used Teltonika RUT950 through eBay.
Drilling the hole through the roof being the only bit I was a little concerned about, though choosing a 5G ready antenna means I won’t have to do it again.

Anyone have issues with SIM card not being recognised? I have AMR985 - connects to WIFI OK, great signal, but will not recognise SMARTY SIM. I've tried card in a different router, it's fine - so any tricks in putting the SIM card in AMR router - I've also checked I'm using the correct tray, SIM-1 :)

I didn’t have any problems with the Smarty SIM in our Motorhome WIFI…..MIFI in the UK. However, when we went over to France I got a good signal but was unable to use Data.

I contacted Motorhome Wifi and they talked me through sorting it out. Apparently, Smarty can sometimes have problems like this. Worked fine for the rest of our three week trip. (y)

Something to do with APN’s ……but all too technical for me. 🤷‍♂️

Thanks - I don't think it's getting that far! I've tried 3 SIM cards and none of them work, so I just wonder if there is a trick to this particular router and the SIM tray - the status page says SIM 1 (not inserted)
