We were thinking about installing an automatic satellite system in our van, can anyone give us some pointers or advice based on your experience please?
Any help would be much appreciated.

Im sure all the main brands are good..I went for a dome.

Nothing to put up or down..........weatherproof under the dome
Visit you local harbour all the boats have domes and most are made by KVH.

I decided on a KVH TracVision and got vanbitz to fit it in Taunton.

They have thier own site there...so had a couple of nights there and one day they fitted the dome. very clean work...........and the sat is instant TV where ever I am.

Thats my experience. So far so good

To put that in context, boats have domes because they are constant motion devices rather than because they are water proof.

I have an Oyster 85cm and would recommend it.

I have a NETA dome , comes with own tuner, never a problem tunes in quickly, no problem with deflection in strong winds.
Bob (slobadobabob) also has a NETA and they were recently in south of France and picked up a couple of channels on Astra 28e.

I said that I like the fact that domes are waterproof
eventually even stainless components get corrosion.

My point about Kvh and looking at boats in the harbour was a point about scale of operation. Kvh are a huge international company..and are no 1 with the boating fraternity

I was interested that Eddie down at vanbitz who fits a lot of satellite
stuff folding dishes and domes. told me his next system would be a dome based one and clearly he can have what he likes .

But Im sure that Oyster have satisfied customers too

Get a Dome, then you can sleep at night.

When the wind picks up some sat dish's become unusable :thumb:
