Ouch!!! Habitation and Engine service £329.00 that took the smile off my face today, just to comply with the warranty requirements, MH 1 year old on Sept 1st.

Reading through the hab so called service, as an engineer its such a load of bo***x same fo engine service, oil at £8.85 per litre plus VAT!!! and labour charges of £40.00 per hour (+ Vat). Hab and engine service 4 hours, ye gods!!!:cry::cry:

And much to OH annoyance (and mine) MH interior state of cleanliness left a lot to be desired.:Angry:

Yep, over a barrel ...... I am really going to hate parting with the money on Thursday just to keep a not very good warranty going into the second year. Last time......

When they do your habitation ask if you can watch , after 30 mins they are struggling to find things to do, a test that should take 2hrs . Down our way it costs £140 , and you don't even get a proper certificate just a tick list .Load of Bo***x yes have to agree .

Habitation Service.

Is it a legal requirement to have the habitation service carried out by the dealer from whom van was purchased while the van is under warranty? Also if this dealer holds the concession for an imported van do you have to use them for the service?
Any comments would be welcome as the dealer we bought from charges £65 +VAT an hour for labour. :Eeek:

Any VAT registered dealer should be able to carry out a Hab Service and certifty that it was up to standard at the time.

Well that`s our 13th year & still loving it.
service charges

MMMhh well all very understanding, we have a friend and he is totally commited to have all the services done on time and pay the big cost to have someone tell him his now 12 month old van is ok and they have fitted a new oil filter, changed the oil etc etc

We thought we are keeping this truck for more than 5 years so we have done all the services our self, checked the gas and electric systems, checked for damp around all the places that could possibly be a water ingress hazard etc etc.

So the book isn`t stamped, so we haven`t had to go back to the main dealership with a warranty claim, or got involved with "oh it`s nothing to do with us take it up with the buiders B--ll ---S and guess what our motorhome is just fine thank you very much.

Yes before we get the warranty and dealership side of this but the truth is we have looked after our motorhome and it has served us well.

Does a dealership stamp really guarentee you that peace of mind?
