I am a newbie
Hi, I live in Portugal, most of the time in Alentejo (midway from Lisbon to Algarve and very beautifull), and I own an Hymer Exsis from 2006, that I bought in 2007 but only used it once, and as we had some gaz problems, is has been parked since then.
I believe our problems are typical of a newbie, and somebody with a good experience certainly will help us easily.
Is there anybody travelling in or to Portugal? we would be happy to receive you with a typical portuguese lunch, and help us?
The importer is 220 kms away and I had a bad experience with them, so I prefer to go this way.
Regards,
Rui

Hi and welcome to Fun

maybe you could tell us what problem you have as there are a few hymer owners on this forum and it could be something really simple and easy to sort out.

Thank you for your help.
Problem is that we could not start with gaz, altough both bottles are full. Tomorrow I will go to a gaz shop to replace both plus a new reductor and check for air in system.
Right now, I have just filled with water (90 litre capacity) and altough it is not completely horizontal ( lower in front) it stated droping some water (constant and every 2 seconds) from left end side just after the LH front door, and I don´t know if it is excessive water or some other problem.
Regards,
Rui
PS. Last week I met a very nice english couple with an Hymer, living 20 kms from me, and he offered me to help, but I did not save his phone number, so I can´t get in contact with Dave.

Ola Rui, boa tarde..

Welcome to Fun.

I am in Ansiao and sometimes go to near Lisbon (Pego Altar near Alcacer do Sal)

Keep us up to date about the gas problem...

There are often some motor homes by the barragem at Pego so a visit there might be useful...

Obrigado JJ,
I live in Lisbon, but I spend more time in Alentejo, 17 kms from Cercal do Alentejo to the interior.
I found some water leak below the sink, and I just started to disassemble its access, but it is rather difficult, hope I am successfull.
Thank you for your help, if I can also be any help, please contact +351919393656 or my email.
Best regards,
Rui

Well, after uncessfully trying to access below sink, where it seemed to start loosing some water, I found that one valve at rear compartment is not doing his job.
At the rear (Hymer Exsis) I have 2 valves, a yellow that closes in vertical and opens horizontal, and a blue one that closes clockwise. That blue one is loose and do not close, and loosing water that goes alongside car up to LHD front door.
Does anybody know where I can buy one and/or can it be replaced by a non-Hymer part?
Thank you.
Rui

Hi and welcome to the forum. Am I correct in assuming the vehicle is a petrol with an LPG (GPL)conversion. If so why not start on petrol then change over to gas. Gas for engine fuel is a specialist area and should be sorted by an accredited service engineer if you are to remain safe.

Does anybody know where I can buy one and/or can it be replaced by a non-Hymer part?
Thank you.
Rui
Well done on finding the leak. A tap is a tap and providing it fits the pipes can be replaced with anything. Having said that the Hymer tap will be a commercially available replacement, not a Hymer specific part. A photo may help someone to identify it.

Thank you, I will post some photos of the valve later.
Sorry, probably my English was not correct. My Hymer is a Diesel based on a Ducate 2.8, and I meant gaz as propane, for cooking, hot water and so on, and that is my main problem as both are full and I cannot operate those functions.
Regards,
Rui

OK, no problem with your English just my interpretation. It appears to me you need to find some gas switches. There will be one for each appliance probably grouped together in a cupboard or next to the cooker. Get yourself down to Pego de Altar and have a look at some Hymers, must be packed at this time of the year. You could always contact Hymer in Germany and get a manual in your preferred language. They are I believe very helpful in that respect.

More developments!
I emptied all water and dismantled that blue valve, and in fact it was broken, half inside it, as you can see in photos, and responsable for yesterday´s problem with water inside.
Any idea where i can get a replacement?
About earlier problems, and before emptying water, we tried the functions with gaz (propane), and fridge and for cooking was ok, but not with boiler.
After several minutes, the water was still cold, and in a new attempt and only for a few seconds we got hot water, buth then cold again...
Can this be related with the bad valve or due to this long parking not being used for 3 years?
Thank you.
Rui

Those look suspiciously like Truma parts rather than any specific Hymer ones, likely relating to safety drain or simply drain valves so maybe worth looking for a local camp type shop, it's possible they'd have, but hey what do I know, escaping the UK in the 'van is still on the to do list.

Good luck:thumb:

I notice you were expecting hot water after the boiler had been on for several minutes. I don't know how long several was in this case but need to allow 20min to 1/2 hour to heat the water to reasonably hot.
