hi all, Di & I are setting off one week on Monday doing Harwich/Hook ferry (thanks Tesco). we will travel to Hirshal ferry Kristiansand and spend 5 weeks exploring Norway, Sweden and back to Copenhagen .
Will we need to book the ferry at Hirshal and if so is 2.5 days long enough to get there, it is around 700 miles.
many thanks mike

Dont forget to make sure you are loaded up with your favouite tipple and fodder for your trip its a mite expensive out there,

Try the Brown Cheese 'Brunost' and the Linie Aquavit

Norway is beautiful up the west side although I have only seen it from Chopper and Aircraft I was assured by the locals that it was the best side to see,

towing

Thanks for your good wishes.
Forgot to mention that we are towing a motorbike with the intention of using the MH as a base and take day trips on the GSA. There will be a temptation to wild park, not sure how safe this might be.:Eeek:

I really hope you have a lovely time but can I just say?, every time I see the title of this thread, I think it's going to be a saucy joke. :roflmto:

We use the overnight boat to the Hook.
One day to the stellplatz at Bremen.
One day to the center of Denmark.
One day to Hirtshals.
Next day early ferry to Norway.
We never rush!
So, two and a half days on the road should be fairly easy.

We always book the ferry before we travel.

Hi

Yes I would agreed plenty of time to get to Hirtshals.

I would book the ferry prior to turning up. We went 6 years ago on this route in a car and it was expensive, we got off at Bergen and it was well worth it. It was like a cruise of the fjords on the way into Bergen.

On the way back we went into Sweden and took the ferry from Gothenburg to Denmark.

Have a fabulous time.

bergen ferry

thanks for the replies, i have been looking at the ferries and prices, Fford line seems expensive compared to colorline and although we would like to take the ferry directly to Bergen with Fford it has a hefty price tag. Kristiansand with colorline at £100 approx seems to be our best option.

Have a great time.

We did Scandinavia 'loop' a couple of years ago (Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Finland, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania and back through Poland and Germany)

Highlights:

Denmark - none! (very expensive and flat)

Norway-Jostedal Glacier and Lofoten

Sweden- Trollhattan

Finland- Savonlinna

Have you got the Scandinavian Aires book from Vicarious books? - it's very good, loads of stopovers most of which are free!!

Cheers

Dave

loop

hi Dave how long did the loop take you?
we have just bought the latest Snooper GPS which has a data base of camper sites and stop overs, not sure how good it is.
