Derek's mention of spending on gadgets got me thinking.

Top of the good buys has to be the stand-alone solar panel as it means we need no EHU from March to October.
Other good buys: Double Skillet, larger capacity leisure battery, LED lights, Khyam awning for when we need extra space to accommodate family, current porch awning for convenience when just the two of us in a small van, Battery Charge Manager to keep the starter battery topped up, Taylor Made external screen covers, Onedrywash that makes cleaning easier.

Middling good: Interior screen covers that cause condensation but worth hanging on to because they're useful sometimes, various tables & chairs used only now and again.

Less good: various camping lamps that don't get used, awning pegs that bend too easily, Grill It Roast It which is nowhere near as good as the DS, Fiamma External Thermal Screen Coverglass which is a faff on and pretty ineffective, outdoor gas heater that we hardly ever use.

No doubt various other bits that I can't think of at the moment.

Good buy A Dome from Snellyvision as now we dont have cables running all around the van from a portable Ariel on a tripod:Angry:
Picture first time and good.:thumb:
Suitcase Solar panel.
iPad for m/h --brill.
3g Dongle

Middle --sleeping bags that we join together makes bed making so easy but washing them is a bit of a struggle.

Bad buy Suitcase Satellite System.
TV Ariel that Ray put on a pole.
13kg that we though would be great for winter camping but is to heavy to keep lifting in and out for traveling
Melamine Cups
Internal screens -to much condensation

Best buy ever-2nd Toilet cassette :thumb: On our 1st 2 trips the red light came on at 0200ish when it was blowing a hooley and persisting down ::bigsmile:

Other good buys-Solar panels,2nd leisure battery, fixed lpg tank,Cadac safari chef (once Bill of Ambilkate had shown us how to use it properly),Taylormade external screens.NASA BM1 battery monitor.Folding trolley thing-bought at Bring and Buy 2010.

Not so good buys-Milenco levels ( far too big for us storage wise).Drive away awning (great once it's up and if you're staying several days, downside is taking it down when it's wet and windy).Internal screens (far too much condensation)

Mike.

Air suspension control panel
Automatic sat system ( Oyster )

Milenco levelling blocks
Avtex telly

Middle:
Before I bit the bullet and bought a safari room, we bought two sides and a front sun blocker set .. That was never used and sits in the garage all forlorn.
Nowt wrong with it and one day I am sure it will come in handy :winky:

Only one bad buy .. an extra rail for the bike rack that turned out to be bent and useless.. my fault. Should have looked before buying

My best ever buy (motorhome wise) is my annual fee to Motorhome Fun.

On here I have been entertained, educated, laughed, cried, met a number of people and made some good friends.

What else could you wish for?

Been in this game since I was 23 and have bought many life enhancing items for my mobile life... here, subject to failing memory, are the stand out items that really have made a difference... in my order of importance (to me)

1. Potta Potti...

2. Solar panel(s)... they add massively to my quality of life...

3. Mobile phone...

4. Mobile internet capability for as wider area as possible...

5. Sat Nav... I now go off piste whenever I feel like it and don't worry about getting lost. Plus iI can mark interesting locations to explore at a later date...

6. Cruise Control... a pure driving joy... currently undergoing "servicing"

7. Generator... Kipor of course, rarely used these days but when it is, it is essential equipment... (Hymer has no oven so need a small, electric one for Fray Bentos Pie cooking)

8. Double Skillet...

9. Nature Pure Water filter... safe drinking water from the Wagon tap..

Not much useless stuff comes to mind but the Weather Centre I won at a Funster Raffle has not been used... :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:

Anyone seen the silicon liner to put in a Cadac BBQ wok, it saves a hell of a lot of cleaning, at first I thought it would burn but it works very well :thumb:

Best buys -
German fan heater. Heats the van better in the winter than the Carver does.
DAB radio - who needs tv.

Somewhere in the middle good/bad buy -
Gaslow bottles. Still convinced they were a rip off but handy in Europe

Rubbish buys -
Internal screens - though good for Aires and a quick getaway
TV - can't be a**ed with the faffy satellite dish so I never watch it (should flog it)
Water hose - I fill the tank with 5 ltr bottles - better exercise. Again I should flog it
Dutch bike - at my age I am never going to learn how to ride it so what was I thinking
