Apparently some 'Global Jihad' Islamic group have claimed responsibility..

No surprise there, as it would seem they are trying to force a global conflict through terrorising every nation they can find. Only then can they claim victimisation that results in the Jihad the Koran talks of. There are no doubt Holy Wars, but I am sure a 'peaceful' religion would not mean that they should start one.

So what do we do with a problem like terrorism? Heavy debate by anyones' standards.

The difficulty in tracing the extremists, is that they hide amoungst the innocent - very brave! Hardly proud to be fighting their cause if they are so ashamed of being part of it. We cannot finger all Muslims either, as they are not all of that mind - nor can be go into immigration - as many are UK born...some white. And this is a problem other countries face as well.

Looking back into history, there have been many cases that have be bourne from very similar circumstances - only on a local scale. This has resulted in Ethnic Cleansing, Aparthied and so on.....and the end result is that the 'saviour' that stood up and said 'enough is enough, lets end this' turns into a dictator.....then we have traded one issue for another.

The frightening thing is - this could so easily happen, just as it did when people like Hitler came into politics - the 'Saviour' in a time of desperation...and we all know what happened next!

We all moan about numbers of immigrants and the economy, we all moan about racism, we all moan about terrorism and the Islamic extremist. All we keep saying is; 'why doesn't some leader have the guts to stop it all this fighting, put a cap on immigration, ban or stop the islamic extremists. lock up peadophiles for life, get rid of those that do not fit in'.......see how close we are??? All we are short of is a 'saviour' dictator...and history will repeat itself.

So what should we do about a problem like terrorism?

I wouldn't lock up peadophiles I would chain them to railing undressed and leave some pliers at their feet so that anyone hating these people can nip a little off as they pass by.

Let them suffer they way their victims will have suffered in their hands.

Regarding these extremeists someone will stand up to them one day, lets hope its sooner rather than later.

Can't blame the Muslims this time.. it's being reported he ( the gunman) is a far right neo Nazi extremist ..

A wakeup call for Norway ...

WikiLeaks files show Norway unprepared for terror attack:

Norway’s intelligence service had previously been criticised for its failure to keep track of suspected terror cells and the country was felt to be complacent about the prospect of a terror attack, secret cables from the WikiLeaks files reveal.

A memo written in 2009, describes the country’s security service as “in over its head” and adds “it simply cannot keep up.”

Separate cables state that the country felt “immune” from terrorism and that groups such as Al Qaeda were “not a direct threat”.

One memo describes how US authorities had to “press” their Norwegian counterparts to take terrorism seriously and says there was a feeling “that terrorism happens elsewhere, not in peaceful Norway.”

Talking about an attempt by the Police Security Service (PST) to track one particular suspected Al Qaeda terror cell, a cable written by the US Ambassador to Norway, Barry White, describes investigators as “committed, competent and co-operative, generally”.

But he goes on to describe how they refused the help of the UK authorities to put surveillance on a potential suspect and adds: “Not only will they not put their own resources on him…but they also just turned down the visiting UK intel service’s offer of two twelve-person surveillance teams.”

Jim:
A muslim "jihad support" group have claimed responsibility for the bombing.
The gunman is a mystery as yet.

ShiftZZ:
From experience, a freedom fighter is on your side, whereas a terrorist is the same fella working for the opposition or perceived enemy.

Also the term "freedom fighter" has been applied loosely to gangsters, robbers, thugs etc.

Latest information is that Anders Behring Breivik (born 13 February 1979), who was arrested on Utøya for the shootings there, has also been linked to the Oslo bombings.

Public broadcaster NRK and several other Norwegian media identified the suspected attacker as a blond and blue-eyed Norwegian who expressed right-wing and anti-Muslim views on the Internet.

Well there we go yesterday it was Jihad, today it was a neo nazi - we will just have to see!

But as I said - the fear of being pushed into a religious conflict is causing these groups to reconverge...which is worrying! They have been training in various european countries for some time - not to rule the world, or gain world wide respect or fear but to protect their families from Al Qaeda.

Like I said, we are close to history repeating itself - lets just hope we do not forget the errors that history displays and repeat the whole thing.

I don't think talking about it really does alot - we tried burying our heads in the sand and being nice to these fractions and look how far we have got? But to change tact means crossing the line.......but lets not forget this gunman/bomber....he may well have been tired of the way things have been going, but that does not allow him to do the same!
