Hi again just had a look at a pic and it looks like it is a clip on jobby ,so I am not aware of anybody that does an adapter for them

The warning makes sense... anyone uncertain about it and/or without understanding the risk should not fill their Calor bottles...

The warning also makes sense from Calor's point of view because if people really knew how straight forward the process was and did it more often then maybe this rip off company would look to reducing it's disgusting pricing policy...

I've been filling my Calor bottle(s) for years... latest (approx) figures... Calor lite 6 kilos = £20 ish...:Angry:

...filled by me (or the man at the LPG station) using a beautifully machined adaptor with non return valve bought via the internet... £8.

Don't know anything about BP gas... Hope their prices are more competitive though...

Just broken my adaptor for my standard orange calor gas bottles oh:

Had BP bottles since caravaning days.

Be good if there is an adapter though that fits.

My van came with just 1 x 6kg bottle, but the locker actually fits 2 x 13 kg bottles.
Currently I have one 13kg and one 6 kg in the locker. I also have a 13kg on the gas BBQ at home.
Locally I pay £18.95 for a 13kg Calor (Orange) Propane refill and the 6KG is £16.95, that includes delivery.

So if I got one of these adapters could I fill the bottle myself, with LPG from a UK petrol station, as the LPG in UK is actually Propane?

Does the bottle vent with a vapour return incorporated in the filling connection and will it auto stop if the bottle is full?

Yes with a filling adapter you can fill your own bottles (propane-red)LPG is propane / butane mix depending on time of year - winter more propane.
Do a search on here to read about filling adapters :thumb:
You should not refill your calor bottles
ONLY fill empty bottles to 80% full that means the weight on the bottle IE 13 KG = 26ltrs
6 kg = 12 ltrs ----1 KG = 2 LTRS ----SO THAT GIVES YOU 80 % FULL ---You have to watch the pump Gage and fill to the bottle size--do the search and your homework, if stuck PM me

I will do some reading as you suggest.:thumb:

Propane at 25 deg has sg about 0.495, Butane at 25 deg about 0.6 so I can equate the litres / kg.

Just out of interest, does the connection at the pumps have an instantaneous connection with a vapour return, or does it vent to atmosphere?

As you can tell I've never filled up with autogas in a service station....

But I have carried 225,000 m3 of LNG at -164 deg C...... but unfortunately, that's no good for the van:Blush:
