I am after some advice, is it worth having our van converted to run on LPG, we have a Rapido powered by 2.8jtd 2004 reg, is it an expensive thing to do and do cost savings over diesel make it financially worth while.

We dont intend changing the van in the near future, also if we go ahead can anybody recommend a garage / whoever in Hampshire / Dorset.

Not any more, even assuming, as pointed out by haganap, it could be done.

The £2/3K cost combined with the recent doubling of LPG price means the market has collapsed, as told to me by a local converter.

there have been some experimentation with running on diesel AND lpg together but the results were poor.

diesel saving of around 25% but you still need to buy lpg so the saving is cancelled out.

the lpg is ignited by the burning diesel, theoreticaly improving diesel burn and efficiency....

cost would around £2k

In actual fact there is a gas that will run a diesal engine... :thumb:

I was watching the "Eddie Stobbart" documentary the other night and one of his lorries runs on this gas.. (cannot remember what the gas was called)... but by the looks of things the only downside is there are only about six places you can fill up in the UK..

CNG or LNG Mo, Natural gas, either compressed or in liquid form, I think the Germans have the most pumps, only for lorries I think because of the size of tanks needed.
