Just sold my perfect draft machine back on bitters and milds was getting fed up with smaller choices should improve over time.but feel pd have over sold them selves but look on the bright side uk is getting its own keg filling plant, hope they don’t brew the beer here as well as we know the difference between Stella here and in Europe.

I notice that a lot of canned and bottled beers, especially Craft Beers, are sold in 330ml measures. 😕
As a result of our EU membership, we appear to have been forced into accepting 500ml measures, (less than a pint), then forced into accepting 440ml cans, (even less again), but I'll be damned if I am going to accept 330ml measures, whilst those brewing and distributing them, want to charge pint measure prices. 😡

It's the same with many consumer items, ie, less bang for your buck. Pringles is a prime example, ie, in the smaller size tube, they kept reducing the amount in the tube, but retained the same size tube. Brewers reduce the strength of beers, so that they pay less to the tax man, yet we are charged the same price at the pump, and if unlucky, end up with a huge head on it too, so diddled twice on the same pint. 😡

Rant over. 😉

Good on her. 98% or more 🤪 of our pint glasses are fill to the brim.
The ones with a pint line part way down are better.

The froth is beer tho. But the level will {never!} settle up 👍🏻

Thornbridge Brewery Jaipur 330ml (very small tined beer) @£6 for 4 cans
Sorry to have to report a big Beer disappointment, I have met the Brewery lady owner, along with a load of other funsters at a meet down in The New Forrest last year, and was so looking forward to trying this beer, but its so bitter for an IPA, I cant face drinking the remaining 3:eek: as it spoils my pallet and my mouth is left with this horrible bitter taste.
Very much overpriced for small cans, I can only hope it tastes better out the tap in the pub, if I do see it one day I will start with a small half pint.;)

I have been so enjoying some decent ales recently though like these ones:
Wainrights Golden Beer 500ml 4.1% @ £1.40 each Sainsburys
Hophouse 13 Lager 650ml 4.6% @£1.80 each.
Proper Job IPA 500ml ,5.5% @£1.70 each (Powerfully Hopped)
Doom Bar 500ml @£1.70 each.

Cheers everyone.

Had SALT Stingo Bells recently and quite surprised, at ~7.4%. Very nice pint.
Have plans to try Sam Smith's Stingo soon to compare, but at 9%, need to be be at home my capacity has reduced with time.

I have a bar in the back garden and my PD machine resides there. It is brilliant for the summer but expensive to run! We have not been away in the motorhome yet, will be the first time (ever) next month. I am hoping a keg will last me the 2 night stay!

Cheers

Originally its from the US but now brewed by Heineken assuming its not imported from California, not a bad drop though

Still got some of their seasonal Dr. Hextors Healer for my Beer Of The Week left but this tweet is the most negative one my fave local brewer put out in the last 12months:

They’ve survived the worst 🤞and I’ll be back at the on-site taproom the 1st day I can 👍🏻🤪

Ralph, my daughter brought me back a a bottle of Black Beer from the Ukraine. It has to be the most disgusting beer I have ever sampled. 🤮🤮🤮

It was that bad, I thought it was out of date, but no, the print and date which was on the bottle label when translated, turned out to be the production date, which was only a couple of months earlier.
Just found the photo.

Undrinkable beers are rare.
Plenty where just 1 is enough :)

I remember one Reading Real Ale festival when I bumped into friends that had just returned from a holiday in Scotland.
They were excited because they’d seen a brewer from that recent trip had a beer at the show.
We all tried it. It was horrible. Iirc I was picking bits of heather out of my teeth. Then staring at the murky liquid before getting rid of it and cleaning the glass to try another better option.

Brewers would like us to switch to cans.
It gets rid of light spoiling (UV?) effects. Is likely to be cheaper for them packaging wise and maybe other benefits - weight is one other I just remembered.

But I paid more for less beer getting my Dr. Hexters Healer cans 👀 (I’ve asked WBB if that’s a mistake. Early signs are that it is wrong).

In my side by side test, bottled and canned are the same beer.
The canned beer does have a livelier (bubblier?) foretaste. But everything else was same.

That's why I bring back slab packs of 24 x Old Speckled Hen and Abbot Ale when coming back from the EU, rather than bottles Kev, ie, less weight.
I'm with you BTW, re not noticing much of a difference in taste, between the same brew from a botte or a can.

I had these two earlier, from a selection my daughter bought me. :)

Light spoilage is generally in Green or clear bottles hence the funky aroma Heineken has or corona would have if it was not masked by the limes.

the problem with cans is there is a big shortage globally and larger orders are required for ore-printed cans so you are likely to see more blank cans with sticky labels and a lot more bottles being used.

Mrskevenh asked me what to get from the supermarket run. I asked for Fullers’ Golden Pride as 1st choice. This beer is a strong ale that my friends recently recommended.
It’s also like rocking horse poo and flying off the shelves.
So I gave her a backup beer. Also no new to me, here’s Fullers 1845
AED0442D-AB13-418A-B1C1-B3E1A6A1EFE6.jpeg

At 6.3% it’s a decent strength.
It is quite drinkable. Hints of barley wine in taste style. Quite a lot of tastes present.

New to me from West Berkshire Brewery is Detour Pale Ale.
It’s from their old Renegade branded craft beer range.
Taste wise it’s like Hobgoblin Gold. So that’s OK a then 🤪
