All Mac users.. be aware... don't get suckered into downloading FAKE security software:

A fake security program for Apple computers called MACDefender has racked up a significant number of victims.

Hundreds of people who installed the software have turned to Apple's forums for help to remove it.

The program's tactic of peppering screens with pornographic pictures has made many keen to get rid of it.

Apple is releasing a security update that removes fake security software that has caught out thousands of Mac users.

Once installed, the fake MacDefender, MacProtector and MacSecurity programs pretend to scan a machine and then ask for cash to fix non-existent problems.

The gang behind the programs used search sites to help catch people out.

The clean-up plan starts as the creators of the fake programs release a version harder to avoid.

FRIEND: "My Mac never gets viruses, and never will, not like you PC lovers..."

ME: :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

I'm betting that most of the victims of this scam software (not a virus) will be ex PC users who have been so used to being attacked and scammed daily they are paranoid.

in ten years of using Apples I have never had a virus or been scammed into downloading fake software.. to the best of my knowledge there are no OS X viruses .. but I would never be complacent, Macs are becoming so popular it could happen one day ..
