Although, as stated on another thread, I will be paying for fuel and peage with a Saga Platinum Visa Credit Card (and only buying fuel at Supermarkets), the bill still has to be paid, albeit the following month.

With help from Mappy, which reckons I will pay about 90 Euros peage each way for a run from Calais to Agde with a Class 2 vehicle, and some help from day-tripper.net, which tells me the latest supermarket fuel price for Gazole is around 1.132 Euros per litre, the sums come out around 400 Euros round trip. I somehow think the figures may be wrong, or am I being pessimistic? I reckon closer to 600 Euros for the round trip.

Anyone recently done a similar trip in a Class 2? I tend to cruise at 60mph for comfort and economy. How much do you think we should put aside?

I would think it safer to go with your higher figure, derv was around that price in towns last year and in spain at the local garage to us it was €1.19 last week. Also be aware that the automatic toll booths seem to charge more if you have anything sticking up on the roof e.g. aircon, sat dish as the laser level records the highest point rather than the roof level

How stupid am I? Figures from daytripper refer to May 2010! And we all know what has happened to fuel prices in the last 12 months.

Back to the calculator.....

Hi Steve,

I think you have underpriced a bit. If you allow 25mpg (maybe a bit better) fuel costs work out at 1300 miles at 1.25 euro per litre about £260

Depending which way you travel down i.e. Peage down to Clermont Ferrand then free motorway to Adge via Millau bridge ...class 2 works out at 96 euros each way

so total about £440 or nearly 500 euros

errr you do have to pay to cross the Millau bridge though, don't you? ISTR we did last year - and it wasn't cheap .......

Class 2 (which depicts car/caravan but I presume includes Camping Car up to 3500kgs) showing 11 Euros per crossing.

Correct....that was included in my total of 96 euros tolls. That toll over Millau bridge is the only toll from Clermont and well worth it unless you want to visit Millau town. A good aire in the town with super views of the bridge.

Unless you're in a tearing hurry, why use the peage at all. A quarter of your total costs will be tolls, plus you will use less fuel usually by avoiding them (more direct route and lower speeds on the N roads). Peages save you time but cost you everything else
