After enjoying the tour of a lifetime (since May last year) it's MOT time. Can anyone recommend a MOT centre in the High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire area (or thereabouts)?

Thanks, Dave. Do you know if they specialise in Fiat Ducato or would it not matter. Having come over from Canada in May last year, I'm an MOT virgin.::bigsmile:

Hi Goose

For just an MOT it does not matter, not dependant on make Just condition.

They do all the MOT's for Southern Motorhomes where my van is stored, so they know what they are doing. They did my Cam Belt a few weeks ago for less than Fiat and several independant garages around here.:thumb:

Hmm...having now got my MOT, wasn't particularly impressed with them.

Apart from a really sour and unfriendly reception, they initially failed my LHD van used mainly on the continent for having continental headlamps. I accept that taking issue with the headlamps is fair enough but expected a little friendly assistance on where to place tape or the beam-bending stickers to conform to UK standards. Instead, I was told I was probably going to need to replace both headlamps because the kick-up was severe.:Eeek:

Despite apparantly MOTing numerous motorhomes (presumably many on a Fiat Ducato base), they didn't know about the dashboard control that substantially lowers the dipped-headlamps. And when I tried to take advantage of their advertised "MOT Viewing Area" on the retest to witness the retest and be available to shift the beam-benders if necessary to pass the test, you'd think I'd been peeing in their coffee with the treatment I got.

Seriously unhelpful. And then came the clanger.

Went to renew the tax disc today and noticed they'd gone and printed the kilometers as miles!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! When I phoned to advise reception about the mistake I was told there was nothing they could do and that they'd sort out the problem when I bring it in for MOT next year.:swear:

The sour guy at reception just didn't get that it could take me several years before our motorhome reached that incorrect recorded mileage figure. And in the meantime it would look as if I'd fiddled with the speedometre and turned it back. No apology. And no interest in rectifying the error.:shout:

Fortunately google served up a forum where I read that if the error was discovered within 7 days the garage SHOULD rectify it. Instead I phoned VOSA and they fixed it over the phone because they had on record that the van was failed on the 27th (for the lights) and the correct kilometer figure (as opposed to miles) was recorded on that occasion.

Cannot quote act and section on this but I am pretty certain that the test has to be carried out with the lights in the highest position if adjustable from the cab.

That said, courtesy costs nothing, does it?
