After a fair bit of planning and testing, we’re looking at upgrading the forum software late tonight. We will have to shut down your end for a while, but it won’t be too long. It should look much the same when you guys log back in tomorrow morning as many of the changes are under the bonnet. You will notice a few things, we have some significant improvements to the way we display images to mobile users and our search function will be improved.
The media gallery is coming back and uploads and attachments to threads will automatically add themselves to albums. This will make browsing photos and video from touring or technical forums much easier. Yes, I said video!
Video uploads
If all goes to plan we should be able to upload video uploads direct from your phone to a post, because of the massive storage requirement we have purchased yet another a separate server for this and hopefully the storage the upload and streaming traffic won’t be too expensive. We’ll start with giving the facility to life members and if they don’t break the server (or the bank) we’ll roll it out to everyone.

One of the biggest criticisms of forums is that the correct answer to a question can come a long way down the thread with a lot of dodgy advice or comedy in-between. However, no longer. We will have a dedicated Motorhome Questions forum. We will be able to upvote the best answers right to the top of the thread, so eventually, you’ll have the question immediately followed by the best answer. the giggles will still be there for all to see but the right answer will be seen first.
We have a ton of other stuff coming online this month and next. I’ll keep you posted about that in the coming weeks. Thanks
