We are booked on the early ferry on the 28th August bound for France and looking for an overnight stopover.

Any ideas?

Cite Europe a few mins away. Park in the coach park but it may be very busy in August

Stop over

Hi

If you want a stop in Dover - use the sea front - Marine Parade

Alternatively - the park and ride site at Canterbury.

On the other side, Cite Europe as mentioned or indeed the ferry terminal at Calais.

Last time I was in Dover to look around all the seafront hotels were full of new arrivals.

If it's still like this is it safe?

Dover

Hi

I have never slept on the prom at Dover so can't really comment. Maybe you would feel safer at the CCC site at Canterbury (the can take RVs even though the website says they can't) or the park and ride site in Canterbury.
