unzipping files (1 Viewer)

When you download poi's from MHF they are zipped, do you have to unzip them when you place them in western europe partition of tom tom or do you unzip them before you put them into the map section? any advice appreciated

TomTom POI sets consist of two files:
1) Overlay (.ov2) file containing an entry for each POI in the set.
2) Bitmap (.bmp) image file containing the symbol shown on maps.

You need to unzip to extract the two files and then copy them to the folder on your TomTom which contains the POIs (folder with the maps in as far as my experience goes).

Ok thanks I have unzipped them within the folder...western europe maps....but they are not showing up as poi's when I use the tom tom.

It's a bit difficult to be precise because I don't have the same map set on my (old) TomTom. Perhaps the simplest way will be to plug the TomTom into a USB port and then look at the folders in Windows Explorer to see which one contains the .ov2 (and associated .bmp) files. Then copy your new POI set(s) into the same folder.

Whether or not the .ov2 suffix shows up will depend on how your machine is set up. If it doesn't use Details view and the File Type should be something like TomTom Points of Interest.

Thanks I used adding custom made poi's through the tom tom home application.
