Couple of years or so.
Off up to Dumfries and Galloway and explore the Solway Coast. First time around that area. Claire, Me and our youngest Katie (15) are off on the trip. Eldest (19) is staying home alone. We went away to Dent a couple of weeks ago and she had the house to herself for a few days and we had to get her bed cleaned and the duvet to the cleaners! Swears it wasn't booze related. We've had a little chat and this weekend is the big test. Hmmmmm.

We have been a few times before , the first time being when we had a caravan and the present owners had just taken it over. The kids were a lot younger then and enjoyed feeding the sheep and stroking all the donkeys.
You can walk from the farm along the cliff tops and see the beautifully coloured puffins. Infact if your a twitcher its great. We aren't , but its still a lovely spot. Its great for watching the birds feeding chicks , nesting etc.
Its a nice small 5/10 unit site with sea views.
A nice looonnng walk with the kids and dogs , is planned for Saturday with a fish and chip lunch .
Then probably a shorter walk to the pub in the evening . Or even a BBQ weather permitting.
Though if you want a takeaway Chinese pizza and Indian will deliver to the farm.

We will also be visiting the old lighthouse, in the motorhome , and clambering down the very rickety uneven steps to the beach , before heading home after Sunday lunch.
Lungs full of bracing sea air.

Bev

P.S please note the campsite is lovely , clean with friendly owners but its not got shops, showers , bar etc and only has 1 loo. And your on grass. So if your wanting all singing and dancing you wont like it.

What a lovely place Bev. I'd love to go there but who knows when. Would it be unsuitable to go with a dog since she might chase the birds, or are they not near enough? Have a lovely time. ::bigsmile:

Ivy

Hi Ivy,
dogs are welcome. Infact Buster fell in love with a donkey on the farm. It would trot over to him ( they are behind a fence ) and bend down to his face and let him lick its nose and in its mouth ::bigsmile::Doh: every time we went past.
We keep the dogs on the extendable leads where there are sheep and cattle around anyway .
Buster, the youngest border, loves to chase pigeons , rooks and ravens in the park . So he probably would chase if they were on the ground.
But the birds nest in the cliff side . So if a dog was off the lead and chased after a puffin for e.g , it would go over the edge.:Eeek:
Neither dogs bark though, except for when we come home and they've been left a while, then they set each other off whooping and howling and running around like nutters.
Its a lovely spot. Not too far away for a weekend.
In fact the cliffs , and puffins, were on Countryfile at the weekend. Give them a ring see if you can get on , we can have a mini meet:thumb:

We are off to Crail in Fife for a week to visit the family, do some ancestry research and enjoy the Scottish weather (hopefully :ROFLMAO:)
