cracking shot Ken, very detailed.
what lense and exposure did you use ?

120-400 Sigma zoom John. A "snip" of the settings but I did lighten and sharpen a wee bit in Capture as my tripod is in the m/home and had to use my monopod. Not ideal but adequate.

looks like pretty basic settings and auto focus to boot Ken, obviously the long lens and a clear sky made all the difference. :thumb:

best i can muster is a Canon 90/300.
Canon EOS 350D body.

never actually thought of the moon shot.

mind you, i just mutilated my tripod turning it into a sat dish tripod...never really use it so i fugured get some proper use from it.

Yep, I have to use "autofocus John as I wear varifocals and even my optician cannot tell me which area of the glasses to use to focus a camera.
I have tried to beat the Nikon settings many times and the only time I have been successful is snow shots when I overexpose to whiten the snow.
Enthusiastic ameteur and no expert I am afraid but enjoy playing. :thumb:

Well when my parent got the Brownie in 1965 for Xmas it was state of the art photography but certainly not captured this moon well:Doh:

Since 2009 with motorhomes several caravans then tents before that.
We were sailing out of Brugge last night on our homeward journey, after a lovely weekend break.
The moon was huge , very bright and looking a lot closer than normal , brilliant visibility too.
There wasn't a cloud in the sky all day though so it must have helped.
It looked quite spooky.

This is called a "Perigee Moon"... it is when the moon is in perigee, ie, it's closest point to the Earth, as it was yesterday, March 19.

This is also a "Super Perigee Moon", this is biggest appearance of the moon for over 18 years... this happens when the timing of the Full Moon almost coincides with the Perigee.

This one is less than an hour difference from the maximum possible encounter, the last time that it happened was in March 1993.

And you just have to hope there are no clouds getting in the way, particularly at moon rise and moon set the moon can look huge... It can be really stunning...:thumb:
