Can anyone give me any info regarding chipping of 2.8i ford transit. Just got back from north devon on the way there got 18 mpg and returning 19.4, its got 5,000 miles on clock so not an old engine, drove back at around 65 to try and improve mpg.

dispite what sellers claim, re improved mpg, by chipping, its unlikely the increase, if any, would be noticable.
chipping usually make any increase in power more 'tractable'....slightly higher torque and a wider torque range in a given gear....ie: not as many gear changes on gradiants and head winds.

driving at 60mph will use around 30% less fuel then driving at 70mph.

driving a motorhome or a large van needs a different driving style than driving a car.
gentle acceleration, more attention to the road ahead to avoid hard braking and acceleration to maintain a given speed and a gentle right foot.

i got an average 25mpg, towing a small car, with my (fiat)2.8ltr 3.85ton kontiki on a 1000ml tour of Scotland.

general motorway & better A road runs = 26mpg

The most MPG we have got out of our Rollerteam is 23 to the gallon, 7000 mls on clock. We get 22 with the cruise control set at 55. Hubby says is all depends on the head wind. Wouldnt chipping it invalidate your Ford warranty?

Our Rollerteam 707 2010 did 22mpg before remap now does 24-25mpg but she drives so much better and less gear changes ours is a Fiat 2.3.

You don't mention the age of your MH.
If it is a 2.8, I take it that it's 2005 or older. Also, is it a diesel or petrol? I can't find reference to a 2.8 diesel on the net. I am sure a Funster will correct me!
Our 2010 2.4 Transit based Chausson does about 23/24 mpg with a very light right foot!

Ford don't make a 2.8, do they? I think it will be either a 2.2 or a 2.4.
If it's a 2.4 it will probably have twin rear wheels. Has it?

But in any event, at 5,000 miles it's likely it'll still be 'tight' and won't 'loosen up' until it's done at least 20,000 miles - after which you can expect to see reall improvement both in performance and economy.

we have the 2.4 140bhp roller team 700 and from my house to pidou calias is 311 miles and it takes 10 gallon of fuel. i dont really know about doing a trip around town because ive only checked on a run, but if i took any notice of the on board readings on the dash(which mine lies lol) i would only be getting around 18mpg and average speed is about 38mph on the motorways its rare im traveling below 65mph

So you're getting 31 mpg then. How do you measure the consumption?
Top up the tank to the brim before you set off and then measure the amount to 'brim' it after you've got there?

Is yours fully run-in? How many miles on the clock?

i buy bio diesel by the drum and put 2 drums in whilst empty(red light on) and when i get to the petrol station at pidou my red light is back on. i know its not 100% but its close enough
